I think they'll draft the guard out of Penn St Olaivavega Ioane in the first round if he's still on the board. The guy is a monster. I think it would be a great pick because the game is won in the trenches.

So if he was panicked under pressure, logic says it was our D. I know you don't want to give them credit, but You are breaking your neck not to

Isn't it the job of the defense to make the QB panic? I think so.

OL is critical to constructing a winning football team. But this team has no offensive playmakers in the pipeline. None - unless anyone still believes in Kaleb Johnson or Roman Wilson. The entire set of skill position players on the roster will be 30 or older by 2030. On defense, it is a bit better with Harmon, Benton, Black, and JPJ being young. Wilson and Herbig could be added to that list if they are viewed as potential full time impact starters.

But with QB MOST LIKELY pushed to the 2027 draft...it is 2029 when you are looking at needing a roster to make a big playoff push. Figure rookie year +1 full season for the new QB to get sorted out at the NFL level.

What is going to be more critical to success in 2029 or 2030, a guard or a WR that can break defensive coverage schemes? A TE that can threaten defenses inside? Heck, a functional RB...that is not even addressing needing established players at all levels of the defense.

Once that rookie QB contract starts....the clock is ticking on the single biggest advantage an NFL team can have - a cheap rookie QB deal.

For me, getting another WR, and talented replacements for the old and expensive pieces on defense in place ASAP is more important to building the next Steelers SB team than a first round guard is.

But maybe the order doesn't matter as much as I think it does?

I hear what you're saying, but it doesn't matter how many playmakers you have if there's nobody to block for them. Maybe they can pick up a good guard in FA, and draft a WR in the first round. Both are positions of need. If they do draft a WR in the first round, I hope it's someone that can be a deep threat, that's something the Steelers have been lacking for awhile now.
