I looked into this after Jim Wexell was talking about it on twitter. The price people are discussing is a 4th round pick. I'd give that up in a second for Jackson, but the contract is the issue. Apparently Jackson's dad is a diehard Steelers fan, maybe that combined with the fact that he could play for a winner for the first time in his career would make him take a pay cut.

I've always like Jackson. But, Steelers can't afford to eat his contract. They have no room. Plus he is already 29. If he is lucky he has about 6 more years and I think that is pushing it.

That's not a bad idea. The Vikes want to move down. The Rams could trade us their 3rd or 4th plus Jackson for Wallace, then move up with the Vikes to grab Trent Richardson... They've got a buttload of ammunition after the RG3 trade.

It seems to me that the last time we traded for a Rams RB on draft day, it worked out pretty well.

If thats all they want, why wouldn't they call up Cleveland and offer their #6 and Jackson for #4? Cleveland comes out of round 1 with Jackson, Blackmon, and probably cordy glenn or martin, with 8 more picks in the draft. Talk about upgrading. Maybe able to get a 4th or 5th out of the Rams in the process.

I agree he's probably only got a couple years left but I would gladly take him as a band-aid to let us see if Mendenhall will recover, or groom a young RB behind him. Willis McGahee and Thomas Jones have been beasts late in their careers after going onto a new team.

To have Jackson in his prime would have been immense. He was the proverbial big back who could beat off defenders.

But now? We're investing in youth. And we've also invested picks in RBs who haven't quite become busts yet. So no point in a trade.

Make that a 5th round pick and I think I would take a stab at it. Would be even nicer if we could make it a 7th and trade them Mendenhall back, that would help some with the contract number. You probably only get a couple of years out of him, but if we could win another SB, I would be okay with that.

I'd give a 4th rounder for Jackson in a second. The problem is the cap hit. Unfortunately I can't see it happening.

Isn't he making somewhere around 7 mil a year? And he's not happy with that. Also injury prone. Don't see it happening at all

It's probably a ploy by him to get traded he starts complaining about his contract right before the draft, and he knows the Rams aren't going to give him a new contract.

I love Redman for what he is, a hard-working backup and short yardage specialist... But he's not a starter, and nobody is going to change my mind on that.

Hopefully Redman himself might change your mind. With the now certain upgrade of the O-line he will be given the chance to prove if he can start or not.
