with that speed and hops, he could probably play corner. LOL :lolol:

seriously the corner spot is very deep this year not just the top guy or guys. there will be plenty of very good corners after the first.

Those were my thoughts, also, Mac. I figure if we can slide back about 6-10 spots and pick up a another second, that would help us shore up the defense a bit. We could potentially pick up Shazier and maybe look at Lamarcus Joyner or Marcus Roberson with one of our second round picks.

I guess that all depends on finding someone willing to trade up, though.

the only trouble with trading back for a specific player is if he's gone when you get there. I prefer guys like roby, fuller,Watkins, gaines as possible corners. as far as guys at 15, I have no trouble with taking guys like fuller or roby or van noy or shazier at 15. if they help this team enough they are well worth that pick. maybe not for everyone that high but they are all worthy players if they do what you need them to do. play well and play disruptive. all of them can do that. will it really matter if they are a couple slots earlier than some draft expert thinks is right for them? I think way to much is put into that with all these draft sites. a lot of teams differ on players that fit their needs.

I'm not so sure everyone agrees. I heard someone just the other day talking about the Panthers. They need WRs and CBs....they said if they had their choice they would go CB first and WR 2nd cause the drop off was not as great at the WR position. I don't remember the draft experts name, but he was reputable for sure.

For us, I would love a Gilbert/Best WR/Desir/Brooks in the first 4 rounds. I think would be a VERY good draft for this team.

For me, Shazier was a first round prospect. I figured he was a 4.4 guy, but I guess the weight loss gave him that extra step.

I've been pimping this guy for a month now. I have suggested the trade back and take him and a DB which would be great! Shazier is a James Farrior replacement in this D

I see roby and fuller and shazier and robinson have all moved into first round consideration on many sites. no real surprise to me but varrett just had shoulder surgery and for his small size anyway, could slide him down a little at corner.

robinson even with his slower 40 time at the combine has moved (back) up into the first. moncrief is also garnering a lot of attention as an early wr.

I doubt Robinson will go in the first round there are a lot of talented receivers ahead of him.

IMO, Shazier is a legitimate Top 15 talent. He isn't a "solid" LB, but he will be a playmaker in this league.

With the release of Woodley, picking Shazier becomes a greater possibility.

Yup, but I don't see him playing OLB for us @ 220-lbs. Who knows, Greg Lloyd played at that weight and did just fine for himself! I think we'd place him inside and move one of our bigger inside guys (Garvin) out to hold up vs the run better against those OT's.

Van Noy in the 2nd might be most realistic.

We better hope there is a helluva run on QB's
and it is not looking that way right now.We maybe
real disappointed come our time to pick. I am
not a buckeye fan. I don't care for their players.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if only 1 QB is off the board when we pick. Other than Bortles, they all have significant physical deficiencies, and even he's no prized pig.

Not in the 1st round...I dont see them going back to back OLB in the 1st round. I dont know if I'd even want one in the 2nd round.

I like him as a first rounder too, but IMO he's either 43 WLB or a 34 ILB. He gained weight to get to the 237 he weighed in at though... played all of his college football under 230lbs

Shazier measured at 6'1'' and weighed in at 237. Now, he gained the weight to get up to 237 and didn't lose a step... but he's still not an ideal size for a 34 OLB. Better inside IMO

That's where I would see him, as well. We need a solid replacement for Foote at this point. Unless Spence has a miraculous recovery, this would look like a major upgrade to pair with Timmons.
