Yeah, people often forget the 98-2000 seasons, and they think Tomlin should be fired. You couldn't believe how many people wanted the Chin out after those seasons. Just awful.

I watched that interview, yesterday. And I agree with Ryan Clark. I'm proud of the Steelers for the way they are fighting, this season. They still have a legitimate shot at the playoffs.

Pride is a good word - because Steeler Nation has that over everything else. Yes - we have high expectations and want to win every Super Bowl, but sometimes you have to look at the big picture. This team is doing a lot with a lot of adversity. They're in the hunt, and many teams with the kinds of troubles we've had wouldn't be.

I not only agree with what Clark said, but I also agree with how he said it. It wasn't a "team vs. fans" attitude, but communicating that the players know how we feel and they're trying their hardest to live up to our expectations. That says a lot about the 53 men who put on a Steelers uniform every Sunday. It also says a lot about how they are coached. They know there aren't any excuses and they know what we expect.

Cowher's last season was riddled with indiscipline, lack of effort and silly mistakes. Whatever else he achieved, it was time to go went he went.

The only problem I had with Cowher in 06 after the super bowl win was the fact he had an intact superbowl team that could have repeated but instead went 8-8, he knew he was retiring so he just had a farewell tour with a team that was a sure fire repeat contender, of course he did have a legitimate personal problem with his wife fighting cancer that was weighing heavy on his mind that he didnt share with the fans or the media, and for that reason he gets a pass from me, but if he had retired after the superbowl I think a new hungry coach would have taken that team back to the superbowl. Whatta ya think???

If you can't handle that, you're not cut out for the position. Tomlin is doing fine. Now if he coached for the cowgirls, or the Raiders, or the Cardinals, or several other teams, who knows? They like to change coaches as often as as we have a full moon.

It was the 99 season particularly. Then after the bad start in 2000, it was really bad. But the team rebounded nicely that year and should have made the playoffs. I don't forget those seasons.

Tomlin's situation is vastly different than Noll's and Cowher's. Noll had to build a team from the ground up but did not have to deal with free agency. Cowher inherited a pretty good team, but the 90s were populated with juggernaut opponents and a soft cap, and Cowher's coordinators were constantly changing, being offered HC jobs elsewhere. It's amazing, all things considered, that Cowher was as successful as he was. Tomlin, meanwhile, inherited an established team, with a franchise QB, in an era of parity and a hard salary cap. The Steelers were very much a stable organization when Tomlin arrived and it still is--he was handed the keys to the kingdom.

Considering the climate Tomlin is under, it's inexcusable that his team lacks discipline. This isn't an issue of wins and losses, it's a matter of the team's performance.

Don't forget: his QB nearly killed himself on ma motorcycle and then needed an emergency appendectomy.

Yes and I thought he was at fault for starting him so soon too, should have sat him, I felt Cowher rushed him back.

He was cleared to play, and from what i'm reading here you all want Ben to play sunday if he's cleared to play, Ben was cleared to play with a really bad ankle twice last year and we lost both of those games including that big game in the playoffs at Denver. Ben was imobile and couldnt set his feet to throw the ball so all of his throws were upper body and his acuracy was off. Ben has a habit of telling doctors what he wants them to hear, then when he is in a game we have to watch him struggle usually ending up in a loss because he isnt 100%, this time I hope they dont listen to him but watch him closely when he takes his motion test to see if he can make the throws he needs to make in a game....

After what I have witnessed from our backups, I have more confidence in an injured Ben. It's not just missing Ben either, the way the whole team is playing is almost like they lack confidence or direction. Whatever it is, they are playing sloppy without their general out there.
