I'm 9 minutes late. And the time you might be looking forward to isn't for 12 more hours. ;)

I love the Ask Me Anythings on Reddit. It never ceases to amaze me who will pop up for an AMA session. A few off the top of my head.

    Snoop dogg
    Bill Gates
    the President
    Bill Nye
    Dave Grohl
    Matt Damon
    Mick Jones
    Brian Cranston
    Robin Williams
    Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny
    ...

and you can't forget r/gonewild, but a preacherman might not be pleased with that subreddit

I'm not questioning or doubting what you say you have heard someone else say...but I'm in law enforcement and I have never once heard any cop, criminologist, lawyer, mom-dad, prostitute or anyone else every say anything like that. I wasn't going to chime in on this discussion but I do get a kick out of all the people that make the argument about how weed is so much better than alcohol. I've been in this business for 18 years and I have seen my share of issues with both. Yes, more people get in trouble with alcohol because more people drink alcohol. Not really a fair argument to make. I have seen drivers impaired on weed just the same as I have seen drivers impaired on alcohol...both are equally as dangerous behind the wheel. Having said all that I do believe we will all see the day that weed is just as legal as alcohol. I'm not arguing for or against that just stating what I believe to be true!

Spot on, Jim. While not directly involved in law enforcement, those are my experiences, too. I've never heard any of the friends or family who are in criminal justice suggest that anything other than more manpower and funding are what they want. Definitely not legalizing "hard drugs". I can't imagine there would be many in the criminal justice field who have a 'legalize everything' viewpoint.

    Having said that...so uh...Ryan Clark...he's a character that one...

Yeah I see no reason in the world to legalize hard drugs. In fact studies have shown since Amsterdam went legal their overdose rate of everything else dropped like 70 percent.

No one is saying it's safer than alcohol because it's "completely safe to drive under its influence."

The argument of Weed being safer than Alcohol stems from: Alcohol is physically addictive whereas weed is as addictive as Television. Alcohol can cause death from overdose while weed cannot.

Don't mean to fuel this debate but I just wanted to clarify

Contrary to what was previously posted, Marijuana is still illegal under federal law.

Under federal law, it is illegal to possess, use, buy, sell, or cultivate marijuana, since the Controlled Substances Act of 1970 classifies marijuana as a Schedule I drug, claiming it has a high potential for abuse and has no acceptable medical use.

On August 28, 2013, The United States government announced that they would no longer actively pursue marijuana offenses taken place in those states that have legalized the small consumption and possession of marijuana. The Drug Enforcement Agency will only become involved if the offense involve violence or firearms, the proceeds go to gangs and cartels, or when marijuana is distributed to those states where it is illegal.

I haven't seen the clip, so I can only comment based on what I have read, which is quite extensive. That being said, I did NOT hear if he outed his teammates or only NFL players.

    Here is my take:

    1. I find it ironic that the country is trying to get people to stop smoking tobacco, yet seems to be willing to openly promote smoking weed.

    2. My personal view...notice I said personal....is that smoking-both pot and tobacco-is harmful to you and that for MOST people drinking is the same. Not to say that 1 glass of wine isn't good for you only that for most it is a lot more alcohol than that nightly and when they get drunk a WHOLE lot more.

    3. Legally at the moment in most states smoking pot is illegal. Possession of pot is illegal.

    4. On a national/political level, I take a more libertarian approach. Let people have it and tax the crap out of it to pay for the medical bills later in life.

    5. The NFL has a problem. Once more than half of the states where teams are located make pot legal....it will be almost impossible to argue that players cannot have access to the drugs.

.except San Diego's police chief! There's a story in this mornings paper that state he wants to drop drug charges for recreational purposes to a misdemeanor from a felony.
Weed can be addictive too. To an addictive personality. I have a family member who, for most of his late 20s-30s lived only to get high and surf. No job, no ambition, was an all-star pitcher throughout school and discovered pot in high school. Had no heart after that.
I can sit next to a drunk at a bar all day long and never get contact drunk!
I'd be surprised if Clark DIDN'T know teammates that smoked.

Was wondering when you'd drop in this thread, you're probably hard at work tracking steelhurtins IP address down :lolol:

I agree with you, while I can understand the theory of putting drug pushers and the like out of business, I also wonder how many people would be exposed to drugs that never would have attempted to take them in the first place having to go through more shady channels.

I know people who grew dependent on weed and messed up their lives, so not really sure about the accuracy of your statement. If I know people who have, i am sure others do too. Like any drug, moderation is the key, abuse any of them and it will hurt you.

With my current employment, I am not allowed to accept gifts with a value greater than a common pen. I signed a contract agreeing to follow the rules. In the past, I went to lunch often, even went on a trip to Vail. At the time, it was allowable. Now it is not. Now I don't do it. If I go to lunch with a vendor, I pay for my lunch. I agreed to the rules. Although it is legal to eat lunch in most states, I agreed not too, and recieve compensation in accordance with this agreement.

The NFL does not allow mairjuana use. Players signs contracts agreeing to this and are compensated according to the agreement.

I dont care one way or another if people smoke marijuana. I tried it, and it wasn't for me. I drink alcohol. It is a drug. But I do believe in being honest and honorable. If you make an agreement, you should stand by it. Every NFL player has agreed not to smoke marijuana. I have no respect for the integrity of any who do. I don't think I'm taking a mightier than thow attitude. From what I have read, I don't think there is a member on this board who wouldn't agree with my attitude on being honest and honorable.

Thanks for letting me put in my 2 rubbles.

This is going way back, but I believe around the time I popped into the world (1956), in Pittsburgh, you could walk into a pharmacy and but marijuana.

No it was before that the 50s is when the anti pot propaganda really got into full swing. The reefer madness, the Devils plant and all that started happening. The propaganda machine made everyone think weed will kill you and that is how it landed on the class 1 drug list. I don't care how you feel about it but weed is in no way shape or form comparable to smack, coke, crack, meth, and etc.

Bayer is also known for making something else that no one mentions anymore. Zyklon B.
Also, heroin, methadone and mustard gas.
Sorry, off topic. Just came to mind.
