If Kenny can't supplant Wilson, he will go the route of Mason. Maybe they sign him 1 or 2 year deals to backup whomever.
We still have to temper expectations with the Carson Wentz effect.
In looking at Wilson's last season highlights, I don't see that but one just never knows.

We currently have Kenny and Russell.... still need a 3rd QB and someone to battle for that.

    IDK

To me that seems like a waste

Sure you have a chance (.0000584%) of finding a Diamond in the rough

But at least in round 3 you have a decent chance of getting a lineman who can start some day

He’s 35. I know some QBs are playing well into their late 30s, but I can’t see Wilson being a long-term answer.

We will see, I will root for him while he is here. But Denver has to pay him next year also. Listening to the talking heads they you would be a fool not to sigh. Him for 1.2 million... but also he has a lot of baggage..

    No

But he could be good for this year and possibly two more while we build the team elsewhere and maybe draft a QB who can learn for a bit and then take over

If the football gods are willing

I agree. But what it also says is that they don't have faith in Kenny as a starter. So now that we know that, we have to look past this season.

For me I want Kenny competing with a 2nd year player next season. Cox that would determine if we keep Kenny or not.

Jordan Travis looks like a potential steal to me. He'd be a 2nd rounder if not for his injury.

Think he'd be a great fit in a A. Smith offense too if he comes back healthy.

The way I look at it, Russell Wilson will attempt to take us to the playoffs ad potential Superbowl (or at least a game beyond 1 and done). If he is successful, he'll sign for another year ( ending Kenny's reign.)

If he sucks or is average, then he retires and we are back to a 4th year Kenny.

So either way, a highly drafted QB, sets is up for the eventuality of next year.

Personally, I'd sign very good Corner and linebacker, Center... Then spend the 1st 3 picks on WR, T and QB

His agent went team to team to see if any would give a 2 year deal. And no team would that speaks volumes Imo

AB? Where? Russell Wilson is odd. Not an ass.

I hate the comparison. He is nothing like AB.

How is Pickett going to progress in ways that actually matter if they are going to start Wilson? By all accounts, he had a fantastic offseason between the 2022 and 2023 seasons. We certainly saw him look fantastic in the preseason games. It is in the regular-season games that he needs to show progress and he may not get that opportunity. I don't think they signed Wilson to sit. If it is going to be a competition, it will be one like 2022, when there wasn't a realistic chance for Pickett (or Rudolph) to start.

His agent probably asked for big money for that second year. The value for most teams is that he is so cheap for 2024. I'm certain that was a big part of Wilson's appeal for the Steelers.

IF he wins a playoff game or 2:

    then.....

he can get a BIG contract next year OR we can FRANCHISE TAG him. a win win win all around.

if he wins 2 playoff games, or more, then we CLEARLY would FT him next year.....and it would be a steal

Wilson isn't anything like AB. If anything, he's the opposite... an introvert. I don't see Wilson causing trouble with Heyward, Fitzpatrick and Watt in the locker room.

I worry more about Pickens and DJ.

It could be a big year in 2024 for Wilson for his hall of fame chance...He had a great chance making the HOF when his career in Seattle was over but it did not work with Denver....If he has a very good year with us,his chance will be much better to be a HOF

Agree....I feel like Kenny needs to take a major step forward to still be a future option..I'm a Kenny supporter, but at some point you have to make your own breaks and accel..The guy has real durability issues in my mind , and flashes good play at times.....Just like our draft pick punter we stuck with to long

I'd rather have Tee Higgins if DJ bolts for a new team.

Hayward and Watts were 2 of the players he called before visiting. And I wouldn't be surprised if both told Tomlin. Coach we are not getting younger, we need to strike while hot if we can.

Higgins is on the franchise tag,so it would cost high draft pick to have him...and don't forget that I don't think the Bengals would trade Higgins to the steelers
