Other than when we had Mike Munchak, Tomlin has always had really poor offensive lines. It goes all the way back to when he was first hired. Ben was getting killed for years and years, until Munchak was hired, then things were good. The line fell apart right around the time Munchak left.

I get there's other things at play, like using high draft picks on the Oline, but we've been doing that, along with bringing in other starters, and it hasn't worked at all. I've been saying it for years on here. Some coaches are known for always having a good oline. Belichek and Mike Shanahan come to mind. Didn't matter who they had at OL or at RB, the guys played well.

I hope not, unless Russ takes a fairly team-friendly, short-duration contract, that can be released with palatable cap charge.

I hope we AIM higher, for a long-term solution, someone with upside. That said, maybe Russ back on 2 year deal (3 year MAX, again with low/palatable cap hit if released after 1 or 2 years) and draft a promising QB mid-rounds (chances are small they hit, but give it a shot, a small school phenom maybe).

The biggest needs, fire Pat Meyer and find someone that can actually coach an OL group, and shake up defensive coaching staff, even if you don't fire the DC, find someone assistant HC that can add value.

Draft WR/CB/DL and sign one significant FA at one of those 3 positions.

Agreed. Why is Pat Meyer still here after multiple sub-par OL years? I know the talent isn't top 10, but it ain't nothing either and all our OL seem to be playing to the low end of expectations. Fire this guy and find a REAL OL coach. Please.

There is this QB that can potentially get us a couple of SB wins, perhaps a new dynasty. But to get him the Steelers need to tank next season. The only way to get him would be an insane trade package to get the #1 draft pick in 2026.

But hey, let's continue with insanity.

It's been true since they hired that worthless loser but they wont get the **** rid of him. Canada and Austin suck(ed), too. Just awful coaching staff choices. Omar and Andy need to keep cleaning house.

Arch hasn't even played a full season of CFB yet, and you're already anointing him as some franchise savior .

And cheers to the alternative of 5 more 10-7 seasons and having the same ground hog day discussions. What's your solution to all of this? All you do is press disagree and offers zero solutions to the problems at hand.

And your solution is wrong tanking doesn't guarantee you anything, the Raiders have been bad for 20 years how is all that losing working out for them?

    Because he has a contract

They did the same thing with Canada

But I believe Meter’s contract is up after this season

With two #1 picks to develop I would see change coming

Chuck Noll had good to great O lines. Even in the 80’s (Wolfley, Tunch). He knew how important o lines were. That doesnt seem as high a priority under Coach T. We need to get back to a Noll type philosophy, starting with a good o line coach.

Drafting two tackles in the first round the last two years, and a center in the second round this year isn't making the OL a high priority .

to me muth is a disappointment. I really expected his blocking to improve. Don’t get me wrong I wasn’t expecting him to block like miller just show some serious improvement in that department. He hasn’t and at this point I doubt he will. On a team that wants to run then he’s really out of place. If you sub him in for Pruitt that just screams pass to the defense. I’m torn on Wilson. I didn’t want either Wilson or fields. There have been times Wilson was been better than expected, but then he has games like Saturday where he holds the ball for 3+ seconds.

I think finding a great offensive line coach could be the most important thing they do this off season. The talent is there.

I think they should mix both Fields and Wilson into the game and not just one. or two plays.. use him throughout .. Russel cant run and Fields can. Design plans for both

Our o line performance doesnt exactly seem like it was a high priority but drafting high there was effort put there. But that just means incompetence through draft selection or coaching or both - which is worse.

They did try to address it unfortunately Jones is a bust and Troy F missed the entire season with an injury. You can blame them on Jones but Troy was just poor luck.

IF Russell Wilson would have been healthy for training camp, healthy for the preseason, and healthy for the start of the season, would Russell Willson be any better right now????

I say Russell and the Steelers would be better right now if Russell had been healthy from the Start to learn Arthur Smith's offense.

$30 million a year is what I think the Steelers could give Russell to come back next year.
