May as well keep him. The only quality QB free agent-to-be is Sam Darnold and he only has one season of success. There are no franchise-type QBs in this draft class that I can see either.

Part of me wants to say I prefer Darnold because he's playing far better than Wilson, but I'm not convinced he'd be any good for us.

Without a decent Oline it won’t matter who starts at QB.

He is going to get some cash from someone, great season, but he had a very good surrounding cast, including the best WR and a quite good nr 2. If they can swing the one year hit, the Vikes should seriously think about tagging him. They are in winning window right now and their rookie has not proven anything. yea it's expensive, but these windows go away fast.

The 2026 draft is in Pittsburgh, that would be a good time to trade up and take Arch Manning.

Precisely why it's a good idea to role out Kyle Allen and tank.

It took 20 years to get a qb like Roethlisberger, looks like we will be stuck again with a average qb and they want draft one in the 1st round.

I wish Arch could play more so we could see him in more game situations. He has been in Tx for what 2 years and maybe
    has played 150 downs?

Offensive Line talent isn't the issue. At this point, it is fair to state that the one coaching them is. Remove him and find someone who can.

I hope the Steelers don't overpay! Older players can go south in a hurry. You have all seen
    it happen.

I wouldn't keep him right now. not the way he is playing. Fields I might. Russ has 2 games to change my mind. That is if he starts both. Fields can move around, and I don't know doesn't suck as much. But Russ has been bad. I know the o-line and TE don't block good enough -but a great QB has to adapt to that. We will just fail again if Russ doesn't start saying 1-second 2 second throw---throw the ball like Mason did or Ben.He is trying to run to. But isn't Fields better to do that.

Careful now, that might make too much sense. Pittsburgh likes doing things the hard way. Someone like a Manning at QB? Tomlin would not like having a QB that could be a franchise QB and create expectations above just finishing above .500 for the season. Tomlin just wants to keep that streak going and cruise into the Hall of Fame. He doesnt want a team capable of winning a SB. Then he would have to produce in the playoffs and that might be more than he wants to tackle this late in his career.

Wilson hasn't been great at all, but Fields was worse.
Not sure why so many people want Fields back in Yes, he can run, but that's about it.

Wilson is a best option as has already been pointed out, there's no good options in Free Agency.
But always keep the door open and explore trades, though right now I would keep my picks.

Wilson can rise another step if we get something going on the offensive side.
    - WR has to be addressed... ideally I don't want to be dependent on Pickens (attitude is messed up) and I want WR's that are as good or better and either drives him to be better or regulates him to a very good backup/3WR. This would greatly improve Wilson's output.
    - TE. Pat is underperforming. If it is Smith's fault, then we need a new OC. TE MUST be productive.
    - RB. The RB needs to strive for 100 yards per game. It can't always happen, but you want a guy that is determined to do just that and an offense designed to nurture that. RB needs to dominate the 4th Qtr. Wilson can hand off the ball with the best of them.

If Omar and his staff cannot produce players, get rid of them.
If Tomlin is influencing those decisions, and not willing to adapt... it's time to go.

Additionally. The NFL commissioner needs to be dropped from a building. 17 games is ridiculous and only plays to the betting addicts. This is not flag football and 16 games was plenty. 18 games is just stupid.

If he’s available in the third

I read somewhere we need to draft two CBs first

The big knock on Fields was he makes the kind of mistakes that Russ has been making meanwhile Fields threw only 1 pick. I could care less about style points, play Fields and give defenses an added element to defend.

Dan Quinn said he was glad Fields was out of the division. That tells me hes a nightmare to game plan for.

2 offensive tackles. cook needs to get on the field so we know what we have there. maybe we only need 1 OT. TF, if he can't stay on the field is of little use. jones is putrid and i don't care if he's on the left or right. soft. doesn't work on his body to get better. have you seen him without a shirt on? looks soft and flabby. he should have been working his arse off. there is probably a reason he didn't start more at georgia. just sayin.

i would look to scharping as well to replace seumalo. i think he's playing hurt too. let's find out what we have so we know what to replace. i find it hard to believe that a guy with starting experience in this league will play worse than an older vet with an injury.

core vets that are on the decline. maybe it's time to take the next step with a few next year. very difficult to do but at crunch time they are a liability for the most part. not saying blow it all up but it may be time to infuse the youth movement into the team next season.

coaching. that's a whole different conversation.

A good online can make an average QB a superstar while a bad online can make a great QB look incompetent.

I think that's actually been one of the problems with these quarterbacks that get these massive contracts. They have a great year because they had a good oline. Then the o-line changes and all of a sudden you have a quarterback that you want to get rid of because he's garbage but he's stuck in a massive contract..... Or they transfer teams and go from a great o line to one that's mediocre or worse.

Our Oline has struggled against every good team in the NFL this year. QB has been running for his life. Frequently see unblocked/unchipped players coming in. The pocket often collapsed almost as soon as the ball is snapped. A good four man rush can frequently get around 6 guys blocking to get to the QB. They have not been impressive at all.

Currently, our Oline is ranked 26th. We are behind a lot of teams that are really bad this year. I don't know if it is talent, coaching or both. But considering that this has been an ongoing issue for years, I am going to lean towards coaching being the bigger issue.

One thing I can say with 100% confidence is that a quarterback that holds the ball a long time coupled with a bad o-line is never going to take us anywhere other than the bottom of the pile.

I'm leaning towards coaching, as the coaching on this team is flat-out horrible.

I don't know much about NCAA football but watch a talking head discuss what the draft will look like in 2025. He said there is a lot of great future back-up QB's in the upcoming draft.

Sam Donald has a gold mine in front of him if he kicks ass in the Playoffs. I'm sure his past seasons will factor in but if he has himself a great Playoff he will get more $$$$.

Wilson has been bad lately, but I just don't remember our offence doing much of anything under Fields. When Wilson first came in, he was playing fairly well. He had some good games. I can't help but think we will need to score 30+ points in order to compete with KC and Buffalo. Our defence isn't very good anymore. I don't see any way that Fields can do that.

He didn't turn the ball over, which is helpful, but that's because he wasn't taking shots down field either. That pick Wilson threw, yeah, he needs to read what's happening and just, but if Pickens ran the damn route he was supposed to, maybe that's a TD and not an INT. The Oline has also been crap. I'm not a Wilson fan, but I don't think a lot of it has been his fault.

But I also don't really care if they go back to Fields. I don't know if he's much worse than Wilson. Less likely to throw a pick, but also less likely to throw a TB.
