Maybe Russ will take the Tom Brady approach if he likes it here...keep the team together by taking less. :tequila:

The Key to your statement is "Under Center". Russ can throw the ball while being under center. Justin Fields, and last years Kenny Pickett couldn't.

It is an age thing, young kids are growing up having always played in the shotgun formation, they get to the NFL and can't read a defense when they are under center.

Just please learn from Denver's mistake of giving him a brand new contract too early. Please, let him finish out the year before offering him a new multi year contract.

The Steelers do not negotiate contracts during the season

And, I hope that inhouse policy does not change this year.

It's gone very well so far, but just like the team in general, it will be interesting to see how they cope with better opposition, and looking at the defense, there's some concerns IMO, plenty of yards and chunk plays and some horrendous tackling. They need to tighten up on.

In last nights game I think players were trying to hard to be like TJ Watt and punch the ball out, rather than simply wrap-up and bring the runner down.

Wilson better win the Super Bowl if he wants 40 million a year from the Steelers

See, I'm not seeing that. We have two QBs who are happy, heck, ecstatic, to be here. Neither of them needs, or wants, to make $50 million next year. I believe both will be on our payroll next year.

Mike Tomlin mentioned that "This is not a QB centric team."
To me that is an odd thing to say as today's NFL requires a very good QB - it really always has, but there are some cases where a Trent Dilfer somehow makes it on the back of a defense.

I know I've said this before: The franchise QB is not on this roster.
I figure it will work out something like:
Wilson is the ideal scenario to work out because he is at the end of his career and he could play another year, maybe 2.
So contractually and commitment-wise, it is perfect.
You can now draft your QB this year or next.

I think we've seen the best Fields has to offer and it is only adequate.
I think he could land a starting job potentially.
There is a possibility he could not and remain here.. but he is getting in the way of a rookie.

So, I would think that might be a plan.
