run defense - no penetration

watching Steelers run defense is very frustrating. they have absolutely no penetration into the backfield they look like they're waiting for the runner to come to them. what is wrong with them?

 

It starts with the 3 up front. Why are they such non-factors?

If our OLBs are no longer the pass rusher we need consistent difference makers on the D-Line.

Anything less is unacceptable.

 

As Steelers fans we have been spoiled over the years with Defenses that were dominate and could take over a game and win it!!! Not so much of lately the last 3 to 4 years. Nobody's labeling recent Steelers D's as anything special.

 

You are absolutely right. But I believe our DL are better than our OLBs. That being said, we need to draft or sign a better OLB that can rush the passer and have our DL play like they were intended to do when drafted.

But with the subpar play of our OLBs, Butler had to use his DL to rush the passer even though they are not that good at it.
