According to Adam Shefter, Tom Burgess (a British rugby player) has had a tryout for the Steelers. He's 6'5" 265, so I'm assuming he's trying out as a TE?

Dri Archer / Jacoby Jones replacement. Rugby player will just jog up the field and stiff arm all opponents on the way to the end zone.

Glad to see they are turning over every stone to improve the team.

Agree. You can never have too much talent, and there's no harm in working a guy out.

Well, rugby players have way more stamina and physical. They definitely have a nose for the ball. But the question is...does he know the rules?

Heck a guy like that I'd stick on defense. I would think it'd be a more natural transition than TE considering the ball size and lack of forward passing in rugby. Start him out as a GTG specialist and special teams and go from there. Regardless, I love that we're checking out everyone.

Worked out with Buffalo and Giants as well. Probably won't be signed by anyone until January, once the season is over. He would be a project for next season.

He plays Rugby League down here in Australia for a team called South Sydney Rabbitohs.

I rate his twin brother George higher than Tom.

The whole Jarryd Hayne thing has got most top sportsmen here thinking the can make it in the NFL!!

There are a few here that could, dunno about Tom Burgess though.

He'll be in charge of time-outs for Tomlin. Obviously.
