When you hear Steelers football, what do you think?
I think of blue collar. All of the greats that played here before me. I think Terry Bradshaw. I think the current guys who are unbelievable stars and have done it for so long, for so many years. I just want to put my head down and work and become one of the next ones.

Terry Bradshaw ...:smiley1: I'm sure Ben will enjoy this quote ... not! Son! Tact - a keen sense of what to do or say in order to maintain good relations with others or avoid offense. Don't view it as a lie but as a sensitive and sensible way of speaking. Just sweep Ben into all the other "current guys" and "unbelievable stars." Too late Mason you said Bradshaw specifically and not Ben. Another bruise to Bennie's ego.

If Ben is to be offended because Rudolph holds Bradshaw in higher regard, he has himself to blame for his early years in the NFL; a talented young man with some more than higher levels of a God Complex. Rudolph is a "New Era" type of Quarterback but contains all the intangibles a coach would want in a franchise quarterback.

Ben could have acted more mature back then. Even now, while he is far more subdued than he was entering, he still has some more maturation to work on.

Granted, Bradshaw, by his own morals, was not a shining example but he did mature into a leader in his later years. Ben is a leader but only when aspects are swinging north.

News flash; that is not leadership. That is self-importance. A leader will always be with his fellow teammates; good and bad.

Of course he mentioned TB because he won 4 SBs but he also mentioned the present stars as well "I think the current guys who are unbelievable stars and have done it for so long, for so many years" does he have to mention Ben every time he says something about the steeler legacy, I dont think so, he just doesnt have to kiss Bens ass everytime he has an interview......

So because Rudolph didn’t mention Ben by name he’s supposed to be pissed? Doesn’t Roelisberger fall under the current star category? Should Lambert, Harris so on and so forth be pissed off because they fell intothe “all of the greats that came before me” category?

If Ben is so insecure, immature and sensitive about this quote, then it's on him. I really doubt this will bother him at all. Bradshaw won 4 rings on maybe arguably the best team in the history of the NFL. I think it's quite OK to mention him by name and group Ben in with "and today's Steelers stars."

Think you're reaching. The 70's team was the start of their greatness. Bradshaw is a natural reference to that era.

And if Mason and Ben aren't chummy, doesn't matter anyway and probably likely they won't be. Mason is gunning for his job.

I hope Mason lights a fire up his butt and makes Ben uncomfortable.

Ben is 14 years older than Mason. They aren’t going to be chums.

I can't see why Ben would be upset by this. I also can't see why anyone would think he would be when they read it.

We complained about all the drama the team had last year. Now since there isn't as much, a fan wants to create it. Who has the signature, "Coaches coach; players play; and fans cheer (and drink beer)." On a another forum a guy's signature is: The internet, where those who have nothing to say, come to say it."

This is akin to a blogger making something out of nothing just to get hits on his blog. I'm confident that there is absolutely nothing to this, and that nobody would have ever thought anything of it had it not been posted here.
