I missed that. I only remember him naming Pickett number 1 at his end of season presser. But that shouldn’t have anything to do with Rudolphs performance.

If you want to blame Tomlin for something it should be his going back to playing with scared money which he didn’t do in any of Rudolphs previous 3 starts. Also the stubbornness with the game plan. Buffalo always plays 2 high but brought one down to stuff the run and Tomlin didn’t take advantage of that.

Money Talks. I am not going to believe Rudolph is gone until I see him sign with another team, just like I am not going to believe Rudolph is back until I see him sign with the Steelers.

I don't care how long it takes, but I am not leaning either way until Rudolph puts his signature down somewhere. With the backup contract they gave Mitch last year, I think the Steelers can compete financially with any team out there for what they are paying a backup. (Mitch signed a 3 year deal worth "including Incentives" $33 million to backup Kenny Pickett last year)

This had to make Mitch one of the highest paid backups in the league last year.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the deal is set to pay Trubisky $19.4 million with incentives worth up to $33 million.

On a side note, I can't wait for Mitch to sign somewhere else, so I can see how much the Steelers were over paying for Mitch last year.

My bet is Mitch signs as a backup for the Veteran Minimum.

Rudolph would be my first choice, but I don't see why Steelers couldn't go with Jacoby Brissett or Tyrod Taylor. Good backup QBs that can win some games when the starter is out.

The next team will be paying Trubisky whose stock is now even lower than when the Steelers extended him so it's not quite a direct comparison.

Early on in the season He was only doing split field progressions....I didn't pay attention later.

Doe that mean Pay? Tannehill is a Free Agent, so it is not like we are trading picks to get him.

I think Tannehill comes in cheaper than Mitch's 3 years for $33 million in backup money. And I would be surprised if Tannehill doesn't want to compete for the Starting job.

Yes....pay...picks...both, or one....whatever....they give to bring in a player. That will usually tell You whether they will start ,or not.....doesn't mean they will stay that way, but it's the same around the league. Usually high draft picks, and , or Highest money guys at the position on that team...are the starters....until the team just can't get behind them anymore/they force the team to make a move. I know people can bring outliers up, but I'm talking about the majority of times.
