good points. Why dont we play in places like boise, boulder, or st louis? I dont think american football would ever be as popular as soccer or rugby in any of these european countries. The popularity of those sports goes back generations. Its much deeper than even american football here. So why waste the time and money?

Again, Dan Rooney was an ambassador to Ireland. This is really the only place
the Steelers/Rooneys would be interested in.

I would love this obviously but I can understand American fans who don’t like the idea of games abroad.

It would be a big event for Dublin and it would be difficult to get tickets I would imagine. NFL has become hugely popular here and in Europe, and seems to be gaining momentum with each passing season.

Dublin already hosts a college game every year. This year is Georgia Tech vs Florida State in August

The average attendance of the games in Europe is 77,000 while in the US it's around 69,000. Most of the games in Wembley Stadium were over 80,000. I would say there's plenty of interest in American football abroad. Now, could it be because it's something different and only happens on occasion? Maybe, but I'm sure the NFL is going to continue to push their brand to other countries.

Iowa State is playing a game in Ireland this year. I'm an Iowa fan and would still love to go to that game. Couple a friends are going and I may just have to join them.

could it be that ticket prices are cheaper too? NFL could be choosing a down time in the soccer season too. Soccer will always be on top there, as football will be on top if soccer here.

You might be on to something with the ticket prices. I haven't looked into it but I can ask a friend of mine who went to watch Tampa Bay play in Munich, Germany. Hell of a time he said. You're definitely right about one thing, soccer is much bigger everywhere else than here.

My friend paid somewhere around $500 just to go to that game in Munich. Had to buy them secondary route because it sold out in an hour. Said it was the best game day experience he's ever had. He said partly because these aren't fans of any specific teams, just fans in general so everybody was just there to have a good time.

i think the price of an average soccer game there is between 20 and 50 dollars. Maybe a football game here or there is a novelty or curiosity. Just cant see football getting close to soccers popularity.

And rightfully so. I don't think it has to become close to soccer. Let's aim for it to reach the level of a Rugby. If it reaches that kinda level worldwide, you can have a World Cup and it being an Olympic Sport. The US doesn't have to send it's best athletes nor even compete in those events. Rugby is barely worth an eyebrow and the US seems to compete well enough in those events. Baseball isn't exactly large on a global scale with the exception of the Caribbean and does well enough beyond the US so why can't football?

i actually dont see Euros spending the money we spend on football tickets regularly, to say nothing of season tickets. They have cheaper options:soccer, rugby in England and Ireland. If we started a league there it would go the way of the USFL imo.

But they're spending more on football tickets than soccer atm. Our football is a novelty to theirs, which ups the value.

Well we used to play games in St. Louis. As for Boise I’m guessing the population has something to do with it.

They don’t and shouldn’t. It’s a business and as with all businesses the goal is to make money. Some fans will ***** and moan about it and play the what about game, but that’s what they do
