:) Got it. The only Johnson discussed in the thread was Lane Johnson from Oklahoma, and I was pretty sure they weren't rushing him off the edge - although he probably has the athleticism to do it.

I hope they don't draft McDonald I'm a USC fan and watch all their games and he is terrible in coverage. He can tackle but he seemed to get a lot of personal foul penalties for leading with his helmet.

was that just not because of kiffins defensive system? I dont know. i hate usc.lol so i dont watch them much but i did read that he is not a cover 2 saftey and had trouble in that system. did he struggle the whole time he was there? he was a three yr starter right?

there are several guys that fall into this catagory. reid, s.thomas, mcdonald, williams, lester, and the kid from oklahoma. hitters, but lack great coverage skills, or speed for coverage skills, which is pretty essential for the NFL these days.

The Steelers were one of 3 teams at USF's pro day (which only had 2 guys working out). Rumor is Steelers are very interested (along with Houston) in ILB Marvin Burdette.

the usf proday is tomorrow alabama was yesterday

    Alabama Birmingham

The Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins were in Birmingham to take in UAB pro-day and offensive lineman Chris Hubbard was the star of the show.
Measuring 6034/290lbs, the athletic blocker ran the forty in the upper 4.8’s and posted 21 reps on the bench. Those on hand told us Hubbard looked terrific in drills. He easily moved about the field and looked smooth and natural in all the exercises. Many in the scouting community feel Hubbard was a combine snub and the college tackle will get considerations in the late rounds by a zone blocking offense looking for a guard.
Inside linebacker Marvin Burdette ran faster than expected despite pulling a quad during his first forty. Burdette, who played in both the Raycom and Casino Del Sol All Star games, measured 5095/232 then posted a forty time of 4.72s before injuring his leg. He gutted out the drills as best he could before ending his day. Both the Steelers and Texans showed a lot of interest in Burdette, who projects as an inside backer/special teams player.
The other player the teams got to see was linebacker Larry Lumpkin.
Lumpkin, who made himself available for last July’s supplemental draft, was with the Indianapolis Colts this summer before reaching an injury settlement. Today the athletic defender showed he’s ready to play again.
Lumpkin measured 6000/251lbs, timed 4.65s in the forty and completed 30-reps on the bench.

Sorry you're right, UAB's pro day. I get them confused b/c I went to UC who used to be in Conf-USA with UAB, now with USF in the Big East... both schools down south that are green, lol.

That's funny - 4 teams "including the Steelers, Ravens and Giants." I guess the fourth wasn't worth mentioning...

The 6-2, 265 pound Maponga wasn't the consistent dominating presence in 2012 that he'd proven to be during a breakout sophomore campaign. The focus of every opponent's blocking scheme, Maponga was frequently double-teamed and struggled with a nagging leg injury which forced him to miss two full games and half of another. As a result, Maponga's numbers dropped significantly across the board. After posting 55 tackles, including 13.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks in 2011, his numbers dropped to "just" 26 tackles, including 6.5 tackles for loss and four sacks this past season. While Maponga's numbers slipped, he was overshadowed by the development of true freshman Devonte Fields, who capitalized on single blocking to earn the Big 12's AP Defensive Player of the Year honors with 18.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
