This is not correct he was on the field for 58% of the snaps about the same as the TEs

His snap count has been very low, until last week he only broke 20 snaps once. He’s not going to get a lot of targets playing that little.

Hopefully last week is a sign he’s about to be more involved.

You are correct that this is essentially his rookie year. Speaking for myself, if I were in his situation I would have spent the last year in study and whatever physical conditioning he could do in accordance with his recovery plan / IR rules. He is getting paid almost $840,000 a year and he is a WR. If he is good, there is the possibility of insane money coming his way in a few years. I would have showed up, ready to work hard and I would know everything on the mental side. I would have been walking the sidelines, talking to the trainers, the coaches and everyone else possible to suck in the knowledge. I don't know if he did that or not, but something is keeping him from being a bigger part of the offense.

    :hmm:

I honestly don't know why people are now worried about Roman Wilson. Dude is fine entering his second season. The issue isn't Wilson. Arthur Smith loves his Tight Ends; plain and simple. Key among them is Jonnu Smith. Wherever Arthur Smith goes?!... Jonnu Smith goes with him.

What people should be discussing is the arrival of Darnell Washington. He is still ways away from becoming a complete Tight End but he is definitely leaps and bounds more complete as a Tight End than he ever was in 2024. If anything, Darnell Washington just may be the most versatile Offensive Player the Steelers have currently.. and that is not hyperbole either.

How many TEs can routinely block EDGE's the way Darnell Washington can?! None. What about the severe mismatch ability that Darnell provides in situational downs?! None. Endzone even?! Nope.

Truth be told, Darnell Washington continuing to ascend his performance is something that should be a far greater talking point of emphasis as of now. Why?! The more complete a player Darnell Washington becomes, the more every receiving threat the Steelers have will benefit; Calvin Austin the Third, Roman Wilson or otherwise. Teams now having to account for a 6'7, 300+ behemoth who can run 4.69?! That, in it of itself, is a matchup nightmare; freeing up any other Wide Receiver not named D.K. Metcalf to have more opportunities.

Long story short?! In 2025, the key to scoring as many points as possible is heavily dependent on three things; the quality of the QB, the quality of the Offensive Line and how versatile your weapons are on Offense.

I agree. So much handwringing about a WR2 when it has been demonstrated that this offense doesn't need a top end one, just one that can run routes to move coverages.

Also, it was reported that Wilson was wide open on the INT that AR threw to Metcalf early in the last game. Rodgers either didn't see him or ignore him for the deeper throw.

Roman Wilson is in Tomlin's dog house. AR doesn't like new players.

Two reasons why he is not being as productive as he could be.

Roman has better ability than Austin III.

The man played and produced big time vs the Packers. It seems like getting him enough snaps was the coaches problem.

Good to see him finally getting involved. Having Rodgers trust will go a long way, just need the coaches to keep playing him now.

Yeah, Tomlin must be wearing dark shades not to see Wilson's talent. Or maybe he is offensively blind. For all I know it could be both.

    TRADE HIM QUICKLY

Jokes aside...get him out there. He makes plays. So over Tomlin and his moving trains.

Has anyone asked Roman Wilson why he isn't getting more snaps on game day?

Rodgers is coaching him up. He may get more run this week if they get down early. Especially with Scotty and Ben on the injury list.

It's because they play soo many 3 TE sets. This has been Smiths MO in his offense. He doesn't work 2 receivers into it very well. It's like he's so dead set that he really doesn't know how to work more than 1 star receiver into the game outside of a TE.

I think this has more to do with the weakness of the OL than a desire to play TEs. They need all the help they can get to keep Rodgers from getting bludgeoned.
Also this current offense is built around quick pass + YAC. You're more likely to get better YAC with a RB or big TE than a shrimp at WR.

When Smith was OC in TEN he had two WRs in Davis and Brown who had ~1000 yds receiving each.

    Bad play to be sure.

But also a very hard lesson. We'll see if he learns from it.

Alright, tomorrow is the last Tuesday of the year for Trades. And, with Roman's Fumble yesterday, I am thinking I have a shot of seeing his name come trade deadline. If the Steelers want to bring in a WR and give a WR back in the same trade, I may still have a chance...... :)

Roman Wilson isn't going anywhere barring a player swap for the same position. Only team I can see interest in him would likely be New Orleans given how Kellen Moore uses a lot more 11 Personnel than Pittsburgh does; giving Roman Wilson more opportunities. That said, Rasheed Shaheed would likely be the candidate for the player swap for I do not forsee Chris Olave being the player that the Saints would be willing to give up just for Roman unless the Steelers add in a pick or two along with him.

MSV was signed today, I don’t think we will be seen no a lot of Wilson in the future.
