They have no idea what to do with their weapons, then they wonder why they can't score in the redzone. The coaching on this team is awful.

Today's nfl fans are so spoiled by the immediate success of some, that development has lost its meaning... bottom line, he is a rookie and needs to learn.... he's had time at least, to take mental reps...
I have every confidence that yr 2 can and will be a breakout

I doubt Wilson gets a hat this season

He was brought up to learn for next season

was watching HBO special, Ravens know Russ either throws (very) short or the deep ball. they game planned for it, it was in the production

    Whose fault is that?

I think Smith is avg at best, he is not a modern OC. He is old school. I'd love a change. He has NO IDEA how to develop a passing game. He was a one trick pony in TN, even when they won a little. It was nice, but far from great, explosive.

But Tomlin will stay with the standard.....for 2025. Smith and Wilson will be back.....

I have been hearing from some in the local media that Williams just isn't good anymore, they missed out on all of the other receivers and just settled for him.

Then they wasted their time getting him, let's be fair Khan has failed badly at the WR position this season.

In eight games his highest snap count share was 41%, against KC. He averages 29%.

I'm not sure why they traded for him. Given some of his early usage with the Charges I've wondered if they hoped to split him opposite of Pickens and either soften or force extra coverage over the top. But this would seem a long-shot strategically, at least until he re-establishes himself as over the ACL injury and able to be a productive deep threat again.

If they don't throw to him, how is he going to re-establish himself?

They wasted some draft capital in him and Preston Smith, this is Tomlin though you have to spend a year watching, even if you're a 10 year vet...which makes deadline additions a waste of time.

Genius move bringing him in right before the playoffs. Nobody will have tape on Wilson, watch him go off!

Smith I'm less bothered by. He's fitting the backup role they brought him in to be, averaging mid-30% snap counts since being traded, touching 40% while Highsmith was injured. Like Williams, though, he hasn't made much of a splash since his first game as a Steeler, when he recorded a sack and three tackles (two for loss).

I expected to see more out of Williams when Pickens was on the shelf.

I’m 50/50 here between he is still having trouble with the ACL or is he just too dumb to learn

General consensus is 3 yrs to develop in NFL
Cam Heyward was awful first 2 yrs… look how that worked out . I agree with you, just like society, fans want it right now.

Haven't given up on him at all. Injury plagued season or not, Roman Wilson was the right choice coming out of the draft. I just wish his season wasn't cut short.

I do expect him to be a big contributor in 2025. Same goes for Troy Fautanu.

Depends on the position. WR or RB is generally considered the easiest to transition from college to NFL.

We saw the same nonsense with Austin, who has emerged as a useful player this season.

I'm not sure they ever had a shot at Hopkins, who had some leverage and I'm certain he wanted to play for the Chiefs.

They didn't just waste time. They wasted draft capital. Yes, Khan failed big time in a couple of spots. That's the worst of them.

Your probably right why would he want to come here if the Chiefs wanted him.

Chiefs did get D Hop for a conditional 5th but their was a condition that if he plays over 60% of snaps the Titans would get a 4th.

I hope Roman Wilson is not a true slot receiver on a team that badly under utilizes the middle of the field. Russel Wilson I think has never been one to use the middle of the field maybe its his sight lines or lack there of. When he does use the middle its usually successful and a big surprise.
A number of very good offenses use the middle of the field way more than the Steelers have. Ben throwing to Heath or Hines on quick slants was the last time they really used it. When Canada was OC if you saw the passing charts it looked like a horseshoe everything along the LOS and go routes down each sideline, Smith has barely opened things up and it looks very much the same.
Defenses adjust and can easily put help over the top knowing we are not throwing over the middle.
If Wilson could coach up Fields on how to throw the ball with some touch and put some air under the long ball I would rather go with Fields than Wilson next yr.
I think against better defenses R Wilson has shown his limitations.

Williams can barely get on the field. I doubt he even sniffs a blade of grass this year.

I don't know if this means anything, but Roman is the last receiver in the group.

Tough to say. It took him a year to start making an impact, but went from 43/664 and 10 TD in his second year to 49/1001 (20.1 Y/R) in year three. His 2020 was average (48/756/5 over 11 starts) but he came back in 2021 (76/1146/9, 14 starts) and 2022 (63/895/4, 13 games). By then he was regarded as a top-flight talent when healthy. He had a nice start to 2023 before tearing his ACL late in game three and here we are.

Just turned 30, coming off that injury (and others previous), and maybe he lost a step. I wouldn't think Smith's offense would be asking him to do anything arcane.
