We should have at least talked to him. Looks like we'll be battling the Browns for 3rd place for the next few years. Great job by the front office with the losses of the young players. Lets just keep signing the vets. F'n disgrace!

I'm thinking about Philly the other year, when they made a whole load of big name FA signings... and then achieved absolutely squat.

It's early in the off-season yet. Not the earliest, but early nonetheless.

Tis the season for the pessimists to come out of the woodwork and predict doom and gloom over every move and non move. I saw it on the old board before we had a 12-4 season and won SB XL. I saw it after 2009, and we went 12-4 the next year and came within a 2 minute drill and/or a Mendy fumble of winning SB XLIII. I certainly don't agree with every move and non move that our front office makes or doesn't make (and sometimes I have even been right and them wrong), but I think they have earned the benefit of the doubt when you look at the track record over the past decade.

McClain is nothing more then potential at this point, maybe he fills it like Hack has been saying or maybe he just continues to be a bust and a pain in the ass. Rats are still in trouble, still haven't done anything to replace Pollard and Reed and Dumerville doesn't offset the impact that losing Lewis will have. I wouldn't go looking at the rats with little hearts in my eyes if I was you

Then it's obvious after being bit in the ass with character issue guys, that there is no way the Steelers will be taking chances on anyone this year. I bet anyone with question marks is off the board. Maybe next year they will be more willing again but probably feeling too snake bit at the moment.

Who cares you guys act like he's the next Ray Lewis he didn't do anything in Oakland for 3 seasons and quit on his team. The Steelers weren't going to sign a player who had 2 run ins with the police. I'm glad the Steelers didn't sign him no more knuckleheads.

yeah the ravens get dummerville and mcclain.. and we are looking at a broken down RB wearing a foot boot... we dotn get enough injuries on our own .. now we are gonna bring them in when they are hurt... unbelievable 6-10 this year if we get a few breaks... guaranteed our O finishes lower this season than last..

    Wow!!!
I am never one to question our front office...
I tend to look at what they`ve done over the years, and give them the benefit of the doubt.
(Even tho I remember the 80`s, and have heard stories of the pre-70`s:lolol:)...
    But... 700k?!?!?!
After we knew Silverback was gone?
I get the whole character issue thing, but...
    700k?!?!
    Really?!?
Just brings to mind a thread I replied to recentley about if the Ravens learned anything from us, and I boldly stated that I had faith in our ability to re-load as well as them...
They sure seem to be finding more shiny new bullets faster than we are, at the moment, re-loading our favorite calibers, with new grains...but, who knows..
They haven`t fired the gun yet...
I will NOT lose the faith I have in my team,
But I sure am starting to wonder about some of their choices...
    From coaching, on down...
Actually, I like the list MacDaddyo put together about our 1 year contracts, and agree with the reply, that MOST of them should be 1 year contracts...
It`s the off-season, and I usually don`t worry too much about it, but we sure seem to be standing still/regressing, while most of our divisional opponents(and the league, in general), seem to be improving...
I hope when the season starts, the kids we have here, and the few vets we have left, make me feel like a fool for even being concerned...
    GO STEELERS!!!:steelflag:

Well. I was against Steelers going after him.

One thing that got me scratching my head though: A friend of mine who is a Ravens fan said Mclain was statistically better than Ray Lewis last year, if that is correct then Ravens upgraded regardless if Mclain becomes an all pro or not???

Lewis leadership will be missed on that team even if his number won't be.

Kind of like the Eagles passed every one else out when they built the "dream team" 2 years ago? Sometimes the moves that you don't make are the best ones. I will admit, I would rather have been the team to sign McClain for $1 million+ than see him go to Baltimore. We may even be right, and the front office wrong, on this particular situation. However, in recent years this front office has made a number of moves and (more importantly) non-moves that have led to a decade of success. So much success that an 8-8 injury plagued season has fans jumping off bridges. Browns fans would kill for an 8-8 season and a team that is in the mix to win a championship every year.
