I would expect all QB numbers to dip. After all, you're looking at games played against playoff teams.. or the very best. You also get that team's absolute best shot. Also cold weather probably plays a factor. Not making excuses for him but I would suspect we'd have to look at every game and see what happened.

Maybe the Brady's, the Montana's, even the Rodger's ... their numbers might not dip or they might even go up. But across the board, I would expect QB numbers to go down versus their regular season numbers. John Elway built a legacy on beating the Cleveland Browns in the playoffs, but his Super Bowl numbers can't be pretty (aside from this 2 wins where he managed a very good running game). Jim Kelly the same.

He stunk it up against the Seahawks but he was young and I don't think he did a good job of handling the pressure and the temptations that come along with being a young quarterback playing in the Super Bowl. Randle El was a better quarterback than Ben that day. Against the Packers, he threw two bad INTs and wasn't able to get it done with the game on the line. Granted, the diva, Mike Wallace, didn't help him any. I wish we'd had Santonio or AB as the go to receiver on that drive and not Mikey. The Super Bowl against the Cards was average until...LIGHTNING STRUCK on the last drive.

Ben hasn't played like an upper level elite quarterback in the Super Bowl aside from that one magical drive. I think he needs redemption and I think he'd say that as well. I guarantee he's chomping at the bit to get there just one more time. I do agree with your statement above that I'd rather have Bradshaw in the big game over any other quarterback that's played in the Super Bowl, and that includes Tom Brady!

It wasn’t just that one throw, it was that whole drive.

Not taking anything at all away from Ben on that drive, he delivered no doubt about that. One of those plays on that drive, though, was a huge YAC reception by Santonio Holmes. I'm not trying to say that Ben didn't deliver in that game when he had to, but if you look at his total body of work in Super Bowls it has not been spectacular. In fact, it's been somewhat below the line compared to his abilities and what he's capable of doing. I'm sure Ben is chomping at the bit to get one more opportunity.

Ben started hot in Super Bowl XLIII as well, let's remember the immortal Gary Russell scored from the 1 to give the Steelers an early 10-0 lead. But Ben was huge in those early drives. Plus the Steelers had a double digit lead most of that game. The offensive playcalling reflected that in the 3rd quarter and early 4th. So the game script reflected in Bens overall stars for the game.

Super Bowl XLV, Ben did throw 2 picks but his throwing arm was hit on the pick-six thanks to Kemoeatu getting destroyed and pushed into Ben while throwing. The 2nd INT the defender made a nice play.

Super Bowl XL was poor but Hines also dropped a potential TD in that game. It would have been a tough catch but we all seen Hines make those plays before. The 3 road games before XL and Ben had 7 TDs and 1 INT.

Oh yeah, Ben played lights out in the playoffs to get us to the big game that year. We would not have been there had he not played as well as he did.

    Then this happened...

Lets hope he heats up and doesn't make any stupid plays. And force ball.
