These are exceptions, not the rule.

And two of his QB(Dilfer and Johnson) had two of the best defense of all-time

And his 3 QBs have never been close to winning another SB after.

Cowher has been in the AFC title game 4 times with mediocre QB, which was very impressive.

....and it's exactly why you give other RBs snaps during the season. Nope. The standard is the standard.

DeAngelo Williams got plenty of carries with the Steelers, he also got injured the same time as Bell though in 2015. That scrub Touissaint had to start against Denver in the playoffs, and he fumbled as they were driving down the field .

The Steelers also had some great defenses in the 1990's

DeAngelo Williams was on the field only when Bell was injured or suspended.Tomlin does not know what a rotation is, especially with his RB

Not at the level of the 2000 Ravens or 2002 Bucs.

More excuses fanboy, that 1994 defense was good enough to get to the Super Bowl. That was the worst Steelers playoff loss ever, losing to San Diego at home in the AFCCG .

Tomlin has had 3 OCs and several RB coaches in his career and Tomlin has never changed for the RB rotation since he is the HC.

It was our worst playoff loss ever until the Tebow Game and the 45-42 game against Blake Bortles with 9 pro bowl in the lineup for the steelers.

Wrong, that team lost to Denver the defense had started to get old. Ryan Clark couldn't play because of his medical condition. Ben handed Jacksonville 14 points in the first quarter with his 2 turnovers.

Tomlin is notorious for running backs into the ground. I'm sorry but blaming a coordinator or position coach for anything that happens under a HCs watch is silly. The responsibility falls on the HC always. He has final say. If not then what do we need him for? Cheerleader?:hehehe:

His gameplan was just horrible against Tebow .... One of the worst gameplan in sports history.

For the loss against Bortles .... The Jaguars were like 5-5 in the red zone, the steelers could not stop Fournette or Bortles to save their live. And of course Tomlin was preparing his team to face the pats instead of getting ready against the Jaguars has not helped
    ....

He had a few but if I remember correctly very few while Bell was active. That's the point sharing carries between backs. Not only getting carries when there's no other option.

Quick glance at the numbers 10 games started (2015) for DW 200 carries. 4 games started with 98 carries (2016) . I can almost guarantee 95% of those total carries were without Bell but I don't have the exact games they were both available. Safe to assume though that every game DW started Bell was not available for one reason or another.

You do know Cowher was planning for the Super Bowl before the loss to Patriots in the AFCCG in 2001, before the game telling his team to take care of their travel plans or something like that . Some of the Patriots were clowning the Steelers afterwards. That's on the players against Jacksonville make a play on defense.

Nice post, last year I said something alone the same lines about this. A franchise QB means everything and MT has never had to worry about that. I am not comparing MT and Cowher, that is not my intention. However when people want to ask why Cowher didn't win more it is pretty obvious.....QB. One more thing about BC & MT both were defensive minded coaches. Look how the defense was under both and that says a lot to me. BC always had a great defense and a sub par QB where MT had the stud QB and the defense takes a step back every year. jmo

You said we haven’t been close to at least participate in a SB since 2011. Being in the AFC Championship game is as close as you can get.

If you think we've been close I do not know what to say

It's like saying that the Cavs have been close to winning the title in the last two years in the NBA, because they have been in the NBA finals.

This is like saying the '85 Patriots were close to beating the '85 Bears in the Super Bowl.

Just pointing out what you said. We made the AFC championship game in 2016. Maybe you need to go back and read what you posted again?
You said it was the fact that we have not been close to at least participate in the Super Bowl since 2011.

    That’s not a fact.

We lost in the wildcard round in 2011. We lost in the AFC championship game in 2016. Now tell me how that’s not closer to being in the Super Bowl.
