Aaron Rodgers has accumulated countless accolades throughout his storied NFL career, but on Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback will have an opportunity to join an exclusive club.

If the Steelers beat the Green Bay Packers on “Sunday Night Football,” Rodgers will become just the fifth quarterback in NFL history to join the all-32 club as quarterbacks who have beaten all 32 NFL teams.

Brett Favre was the first quarterback to accomplish the feat when he beat the Packers as a member of the Minnesota Vikings in 2009. Drew Brees, who was drafted by the San Diego Chargers, beat the New Orleans Saints in his only chance against his future team in 2004, then went 4-0 against the Chargers during his 15 seasons with the Saints. Peyton Manning, who was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts and spent his first 13 seasons with the team, finished 1-3 against the Colts after he joined the Denver Broncos for the final four years of his NFL career. Tom Brady spent the first 20 years of his career with the New England Patriots and then beat the Patriots as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer in his only game against New England.

Joe Montana and Fran Tarkenton are honorary members of this exclusive club, as they beat all 28 teams that were in the league at the time they were playing. Montana, the longtime San Francisco 49er, beat his former squad with the Kansas City Chiefs, while Tarkenton, the longtime Viking, had a stint with the New York Giants that allowed him to defeat the Vikings.

Accomplishing the feat was a bit easier for Favre and Manning because each spent time with multiple teams in the same conference. Favre, after one season with the New York Jets, spent two seasons with the Packers’ division rival Vikings, giving him four cracks at his former team (he went 2-2). Manning faced the Colts in three of his four seasons with the Broncos, including twice in the 2015 season when the Andrew Luck-led Colts beat the Broncos in the playoffs.

It was a little tougher for Brady and Brees, who each played for just two teams — one in the AFC and one in the NFC. Teams in opposite conferences don’t face each other nearly as much — current scheduling formats guarantee meetings only once every four years — which left both with only one chance to join the club, though Brees certainly didn’t know what was on the line when he delivered a 43-17 win over the Saints in his fifth and final season with the Chargers in 2004.

This probably figures to be Rodgers’ only chance at joining the club after he said earlier this year he was “pretty sure” this would be his last season. Following his 18-year run with the Packers in the NFC, Rodgers never faced Green Bay in his first two seasons in the AFC with the New York Jets. Rodgers joined the Steelers on a one-year contract during a season in which the NFC North is on the schedule for the AFC North.
Rodgers spoke with Packers reporters Thursday ahead of Sunday night's game against his former team.
In recent years, there have been a couple of quarterbacks who walked away one win short of the club. Ben Roethlisberger, who spent his entire career in Pittsburgh, never beat the Steelers, while Alex Smith, who spent five of his 14 years in Kansas City, was 0-2 in his career against the Chiefs while playing for the 49ers (he never faced them while with Washington.)

Three other active quarterbacks — Patrick Mahomes, Matthew Stafford and Russell Wilson — have beaten 31 teams.

Mahomes, of course, has never played against the Chiefs and fans in Kansas City certainly hope he never does. Stafford is 0-3 against the Steelers in his career and the Los Angeles Rams aren’t scheduled to play the Steelers until 2027, so Stafford’s only chance at it would either be in the Super Bowl, if he plays a couple more years after this season, or if he were to change teams.

Wilson lost his only start against the Seattle Seahawks — which came in his debut for the Denver Broncos. The Seahawks aren’t on the Giants’ schedule this season, and Wilson has been relegated to backup duties anyway. Wilson will be a free agent in the offseason so his future landing spot — if there is one — will determine if he has a chance to join the club.

Going back to before there were 32 teams, John Elway, Terry Bradshaw and Ken Stabler each beat all but one team throughout their careers. Elway spent his entire career with the Broncos — after forcing a trade away from the Baltimore Colts after they drafted him — while Bradshaw spent his whole career with the Steelers. Stabler played on teams besides the Oakland Raiders but he never played against the Raiders in his career.

    "Accumulated Countless accolades"

Nothing countless about the 1 SB.

I know he is HOF. You'd think he'd have more then 1. Trent Dilfer has same #. Not all on him the Packers only got 1 with him.

His HOF resume would look nice with 2 on it.

Rodgers didn't have the defenses Roethlisberger was gifted.
