I like Rudolph. But unfortunately the reality is that he is a 0.500 backup QB. He won't elevate a team around him. He needs strong support. His biggest problem has never been corrected (I don't think it can be at this point). He doesn't sense pressure well, and he doesn't move well in a muddy pocket. Just not very strong against pressure. Nice guy though.

with mccarthy, mason could evolve. why not? if the young guys can evolve as far as many think why couldn't MM do the same with rudolph? he's not a bad QB but was behind ben and under tomlin.

Yeah, nice enough guy. Hasn't complained. But the one thing he used to do extremely well seems to have disappeared. The deep ball. He was a one trick pony who lost his trick. Even as a backup, Charlie Batch was much better in relief IMO.

The 2023 Bengals' defense gave up 374.6 yards per game. Only the Commanders were worse.

The Titans' lousy record when Rudolph started isn't the issue. it was his poor play, which eventually got them to put him back on the bench.

If you do want to use a quarterback's record as a measure of their performance, Kenny Pickett has a better career record than Mason Rudolph. 'Nuff said.

The comparison to Darnold doesn't hold up. He was saddled with a horrible situation with the Jets, then drastically improved his game when he had the opportunity to work with strong coaches in San Francisco, Minnesota, and Seattle. He was also a better prospect than Rudolph to begin with.

Exactly. Give Rudolph a clean pocket and he can make a few plays, but his pocket presence is awful. That is a difficult thing to fix. He is an easy guy to like, but nothing more than a middling backup.

Wrong again. Both Levis and Rudolph played the last game. You forget the fact that out of 3 Titans win, Rudolph had two. ( he didn’t get credit for win against Miami even though he replaced injured Levis halfway through first quarter). He also scored 27 and 30 points against Cincinnati and Colts in losses, where Titans defense just gave up. The second last game against Jacksonville was where it seemed the team was trying to lose to claim the overall #1 pick. The GM got fired right after the season and coach midway through next season. They desperately wanted Will Levis to succeed and he had national commercials etc.

Steelers were only leading 10-9 when he took field in the second half (Bengals had scored on their possession after half). His qb rating was 118.5 for that game. He actually had better stats than Rodgers. Any QB rating over 100 is considered good. That is top notch play and I believe one of the Steeler Beat writers (Dulac I believe) wrote an article that Mason is good enough to start for half the nfl teams.

Just because you have the label as a QB guru doesnt mean every QB can be made into a stud.

Rudolph is 30, even if he could be fixed, his time has passed. They are going to focus on the young guys.

You are probably refering to his deep ball against Chicago. It's extremely difficult to be accurate on deep moon balls in Chicago in November when the wind from the lake comes in gusts. Windy city for a reason.

I'm not wrong at all. Rudolph had a shot earlier in the season, too, and wasn't good. He threw as many interceptions as touchdowns. I guess you think that is good.

It is difficult for a guy like Rudolph, who lacks a great arm, but you really do go reaching for an excuse on all occasions.
