Charles Grodin (a Pittsburgh born and raised actor) passed away today at 86. He was certainly an acquired taste due to his deadpan, dry sarcastic demeanor and humor but I liked him in all his movies starting with the original Heartbreak Kid opposite a very young Cybil Shepard. He was great in Lonely Guy with Steve Martin and Midnight Run with DeNiro. Apparently he was considered the lead role in The Graduate that eventually went to Hoffman. Now he can insult and continue his trademark wit in the great beyond. RIP Sir. Well done.

I didn't realize he was that old. Always liked him, but I know some people didn't really 'get him'. Super smart and funny guy. RIP

Never knew he was a Burgh guy. Bright side he didn't have to see the blundering Pirates make yet another huge blunder.

Never a big fan but RIP to a Burgh guy.

Another quirky actor from the Burgh is Jeff Goldblum. And of course there's Michael Keaton. Too bad none of these guys can "act" like major league ballplayers and join the Pirates.

    I knew Jeff Goldblum was.
He is a Top 10 actor IMO.
I thought his acting in 1990s thriller Mr. Frost was freaking great. Also in Cronenbergs The Fly.
That's just a few amongst many.

I like his strange characters and acting as well but can you imagine being stuck in an elevator with him?

Yeah I guess it could be more bizarre - like stuck with a few Seinfeld characters - Newman, Costanza, Costanza's parents, Putty, Kramer, Boy in a Bubble! :lolol:
