Looking at the Andrew Luck draft and didn't really realize how useless the Steelers draft actually was.

    David DeCastro
    Mike Adams
    Sean Spence
    Alameda Ta'amu
    Chris Rainey
    Toney Clemons
    David Paulson
    Terrence Frederick
    Kelvin Beachum

Thank god for Beachum. Even though they didn't keep him.

It’s poor, but DeCastro continues to anchor the OL

Beachum played well enough to get a couple decent free agency contracts

Almost as bad as 2008. Minus Mendenhall...that draft was an epic fail.

Out of the first five you got two who had unfortunate injuries that plagued them and the other two if memory serves had run in with the law that saw them work their way out of town. That is some bad luck no two ways about it.

The majority of NFL rosters have a large turnover every 4 or 5 seasons. I don't think people realize how hard it is to make it as an NFL player. To have the talent and ability to stay in the NFL past 4 or 5 seasons is an huge accomplishment.

Not the best draft but we have had worse. After the all-time best draft in 1974 the Steelers followed up with a complete did. It is a crap shoot.

Yep, and he’s still a starting tackle. I have a lot of respect for what Beachum has been able to accomplish on the field given his complete lack of measureables for the OT position.

Most teams get 2 solid players from a draft, if they're lucky they get 3.

Not our finest work but we got an All-Pro out of it.

Wow, forgot how nasty that year was. I'm not big on College football and when I see where some of these players come from I wonder just how many damn scouts there are out there.

Fans think drafting is easy and if they were doing it every draft would result in 7 future members of the hall. Also every possible trade scenario will always work out 100% in their favor.

The ideology that the expectation of four to five picks panning out in every draft is unrealistic and more so crosses into the relam of fantasy land. Such logic makes zero sense. The NFL draft is the ultimate crapshoot for a reason. 256 players means that, using the general seven picks here, only two have the possibility of becoming good players.

Should you have three or more, that is not common. Seldom does fortune pan out that way. Pittsburgh is potentially looking at four players from the 2017 class that are either good or great players. That alone is extraordinary; colossally rare no less.

As Steelersfan6 stated and, I reitetate, two of the seven does constitute as a good draft for any team; Steelers or otherwise.

That said, to me, the 2012 draft was a success. Considering Been was being treated like a pinata at the time, the effort to rebuild started with that draft; Mike Munchak being the biggest piece the year later.

I’m extrapolating here but getting one All-Pro is great. Typically, an All-Pro would play more than 10 years. Say 11. Draft one a year for 11 years and half of your starters are AP. That sounds like a super bowl favorite every year?

I would even take that a step further to say 1 or 2 quality starters per draft is good enough (in my mind). Over a 10 year period, that would mean we have 10 to 20 quality starters via the draft. Admittedly, that means we have to retain our quality picks with 2nd contracts.
