the recent retirements by Troy Polamalu and Ike Taylor reminds me of the time when the 1970's team started the retirement. I believe the first wave occured after their 4th super bowl win 1979 when Gerry Moon Mullins and Sam Davis retired. then in 1980, Rocky Bleier, mike wagner, and Dwight White retired. the biggest retirement year was 1981, when Joe Greene, LC Greenwood, john banazak, and Jon Kolb retired.
1981 was the biggest blow and in 1981, I new they were not the same team from the 1970's.

I was just thinking of that the other day as well. So sad to make the transition, but I hope we don't wait another 30 years to win a Super Bowl. With Big Ben here, I really doubt it.
