That "concept" is flawed. We never drafted any OLBs in Round 1 until last year, and JJ did start. Before that, there was only Timmons and he was sitting behind James Farrior, for my money, one of the best in the business. I think we all know Timmons should have been starting in Year 2 with how productive he was in limited snaps.

If Fuller had been available then I think its more of an argument. But if we couldn't trade down to get Roby or Verett (and that's if we even wanted to), then I am all for passing on Dennard.

I just can't wait until Ben makes both Gilbert & Dennard look foolish this year.

It's okay, I lose track of time too sometimes. It's been one day, not three years.

Jarvis started last year. So did 6th round pick Williams. Timmons sat for a year but was injured for much of camp if I remember correctly, and was not ready. In year two he contributed heavily to a Super Bowl win.

    Yeah, what an awful pattern.

what are you talking about? even lewis said in his press conf. or some interview that dennard has a lot of technique work to do. he is not penciled in as a starter day 1. they all are projects. its a deep cb class but nobody in it is elite. I bet gilbert is the only one starting day one.

    Exactly :applaud:

People saying how our LB's sit on the bench for 3 years (not true but keep spewing that fallacy) but why the heck does anyone here think any DB drafted will be starting day 1??? It's one of the harder positions to learn, don't hold your breath.

Saw video of Johnny Football walking into the draft last night.he stopped for photos and was rubbing his fingers together like he wad looking for money. Instant dislike from me. Wish Silverado could knock him the heck out

I'm no fan of his but I don't believe that is what you think it is, it may mean money but its as in he is money or the play they just made is money, he does it after he scores or makes a big play. I think.

Being here in Canada I got to watch a lot of Fluite, the guy is first class all the way,,this other kid is a punk, I hope he sticks around long enough so the AFC North D can wipe that smile off his face. Then he can come crawling to the CFL where he'll make pocket change.

I'm almost positive it stems from the autograph jersey and stuff scandal he was involved in. He started doing it the very next game but whatever.

my opinion on the Shazier pick is simple,if they just try to use him in a conventional ILB roll I don't think he would impress but if they move him around and let him use that athleticism he could be special in that role. We seemed to have stockpiled a lot of speed and versatility on our defense. Now the question is ,will we let them use it or will we continue to handcuff our guys with structure. It looks like Lebeaus stamp is on the pick,no more excuses it's time to bring back Blitzburgh.
