    Maybe in specific quantity....but I think the overall quality of play has been raised. I think that "good" now is better than "good" back when I first started watching football. And so is "bad". Like a "bad" QB now would be far better if they got dropped into the NFL 30 years ago or something.

    In those misty days of yore, you had many college QBs filtering into the league that couldn't take a shotgun snap. That struggled with reading out basic pro concepts because their college team ran an antiquated system compared to the NFL. This is when sitting for a year or two was almost absolutely necessary.

    Now, you can take the shrink wrap off almost any college QB and he will understand the basics of what is happening on an NFL field. Whether he can do anything with that knowledge or not is a whole other question.

    But, there is another side of every coin. NFL teams are demanding more of their QBs than ever before. Still creates a situation where few can manage the realities of the position. I believe that NFL starting QB is the most difficult task in all of professional sports. Maybe NHL goalie?
