How good can mason be? He is far and away better then Dobbs was. He makes the team flow. Of course he practices too. First impression, I'm impressed. Looks like we have something to build on. That was a pretty good defense.

    Maybe could have effected him.
I also find it strangely odd he didn’t get more preseason time.
But, whatever didn’t scare the Rooney’s for giving him a bigger extended contract

What I wonder is if Ben misses significant time and Rudolph plays lights out during that time and we win games, will they put Ben back in once he's healthy and pull a successful and winning Rudolph? Do our coaches have the balls to tell Ben that he may get another chance, but as long as Rudolph is winning games and playing good he's going to keep playing?

I just don't think this management group has what it takes to might the necessary calls

Well he did practice Thu. and Fri. so I assume there wasn’t a problem. He took Wed. off buts that’s the norm. If his elbow was a issue I think we may have heard at least a report from practice. If it was the case Rudolph should of gotten even more preparation time. I think we would of heard about 1st team reps for Rudolph, most likely.

As far as PS he played as much as he usually does. They even said he had about the same amount of drop backs as Brady and another top QB I forget who. The difference is probably those guys don’t also take every 3rd day off of camp as well. Its clear Ben needs more work with his WRs especially this year and that doesn’t seem to change how he goes about his business and I think it’s a problem.....obviously

Contract extension? They should of tagged him.

If Tomlin is the coach 7 will play when healthy. He doesn't believe in guys losing their spot due to injury.

My biggest fear is that Rudolph sees significant playing time while Ben is injured and wins games thus keeping MT as HC to ruin another decade of false possibilities.

I'd rather have failure and a new coaching staff than to witness Rudolph's wasted talent like we have seen from Ben and this coaching staff.

I’ll do worse. Team does terrible and we continue drafting top 10 picks that don’t pan out while tomlin and butler keep their jobs.

Good thing he wasn’t the coach when Maddox went down and Ben took over.

I agree, though coming off the bench and having a decent game is not unknown. The opposing D has little to nothing to prepare on Mason. if he does get the start next week he will have a full week of prep, but so will the Opposing coaches. Seeing him pay though, you do get a sense that he can really be a decent NFL QB. Very small sample, but wonder who has a longer career ..him or Lamar Jackson. While Lamar is lighting it up, guys like him seem to have a very limited window. Only time will tell.

True. I'm a big advocate of playing the guy who has the best chance of getting you the win. Tomlin however as history has shown will play a Ben at 75% and 10% mobility.

The Steeler cynic fan take: "He'll be Landry Jones with defenses now preparing for him!"
The eternal optimist take: "It'll be like Brady replacing Bledsoe! Look what we have stumbled upon!"
Reality is probably somewhere in between. I'm one of the ones who think that he is going to be a decent starting qb in this league, whenever that may be. Granted, it was only one half of football, but the O looked better in Rudolph's half than Ben's to me.

Won’t be a brees, Brady, Ben, not even rivers but he can definitely be a foles, goff, garappolo maybe even romo territory
