--- heard on ESPN 980 that Washington wants Wallace "bad"....

2 weeks ago it was reported that St. Louis wanted Wallace. Why?

Then there was a rumor that was told to me by a friend (ESPN Radio) that their was a three team blockbuster trade being talked about involving Washington, St.Louis and Pittsburgh.

St.Louis and Washington pull off a blockbuster 1st rd. pick trades.

But, now Washington wouldn't give it's #2 overall pick to sign Wallace. But, I keep hearing Wallace and Redskins. Wallace still hasn't signed with Pittsburgh...

It's going in a circle...Don't know how this could happen for the Redskins landing Wallace though...

I don't think Washington can without giving up the number 2 pick, which like you said, they won't.

Maybe the Redskins have a deal in place to trade that pick or RG3? Could be a swap for a QB and a late 1st. rounder?

Or the Redskins have a offer for another player on the Team that has 1st. round value?I havn't looked at them enough to know.....??This would mean a RG3 to Wallace combo....

Washington would never give up their #2 pick for Wallace.

With the picks they received from the skins, the rams could be in the Wallace hunt. I'd take the #6 overall for him; wouldn't you?

Washington may want Wallace, but I can't see how they get by tender offer after the RGIII deal.

But it does raise a question, if the compensation for Wallace is a 1st round pick, does that by definition mean that teams without a 1st round pick in 2012 CAN"T make an offer for Wallace or any other RFA tagged the same way?? I guess it would have to work that way, but I've heard it explained that way.

That's how I understand it. If no 1st round pick this year they are out of the market since that is the compensation they must give up. 2015 is the earliest the skins can make a move unless they acquire a 1st in a trade.

They do have the #2 in the 1st round this year, because of the trade with the Rams. So, if the Skins want to give up the #2 overall pick in this years draft to the Steelers, they could go after Wallace :)

I would take the #16 for Wallace. Fact is, that won't be happening. Nobody inside the top 20 is going to give up their pick for Wallace. I don't think anyone will at all, but if a team does, it will be a late 1st round pick.

Uhhhh, the premise of my statement was that option (highlighted in red) was off the table, i.e "not happening". Why trade 3 firsts and a second to move up only to trade that higher, incredibly expensive & over-reached pick for someone like Wallace?

Don't see that happening and one HUGE thing to keep in mind is that he is a RESTRICTED free agent not unrestricted. We have final say on this matter and Colbert has publicly spoken on the matter, highly unusual for our FO, that Wallace will be a Steeler.

There is a reason they have been hacking, cutting, and renegotiating contracts like crazy. They have freed up millions if needed.

The Foreskins shot themselves in the foot if they wanted Wallace...they didn't give everything up for Wallace , they did it for RG III

This is one of those rumors started by those no nothing on the fringe football fans.
They see the RG to Washington stuff then say all he needs is a receiver. Then another clueless fan says that Wallace guy from Pittsburgh would be perfect, lets go get him, come on Snyder make it happen. They don't realize it's impossible for the skins to do so.

Without that second overall pick RG3 isn't on the redskins team......and neither will Wallace be. I know synder has alot of mOney but he can't just create a second first round pick for his team, therefore common sense dictates that the redskins cant have bOth.

Wallace is a sure fire legitimate proven talent and number 1 WR in this league.

He's never been injured, never had off season issues, is of the fastest players in league and we got him in the third round and had him develop and learn our system on the cheap for a few seasons. Why the hell should we trade him for an unproven guy?

If we got a player like him (if we needed a WR) as a 1st round draft pick knowing he would give us the production we ALREADY friggin have, most of us would be psyched and celebrate he wasn't a bust.

What is wrong with you people?

He's why we don't have a need there... Especially with friggin Ward gone. Other than Brown everyone else is iffy to risky.

Skins are out of the running now but I think there could be some validity to mock drafts that have NE taking Wallace and the Steelers using that late #1 for 6-4 Stephen Hill from Georgia Tech.

I believe the Steelers want to keep Wallace, but also maintain cap space. So, Wallace gets tendered, other teams will make offers and he'll maybe make more money with a Steelers counter. Meanwhile, Steelers don't have to pay what they would with the franchise tag on Wallace. He gets another year to prove himself (I'm guessing his agent should negotiate this way), and if he continues to deliver, then the Steelers make sure they clear enough funds to sign him to a big contract. Everybody wins.

I think Wallace is gone. Rember we have to lock up brown and sanders next season. We take the pick and solidify the online with and CB/Lb in the 1st round. Haley offense is a 10 to 15 yard pass and let wr run after the catch.

Redskins are supposedly working on a trade to be done today that may give them another first round pick. With that said its still a possibility they could snag him????

Just heard that the Rooney's were not too happy about comments made by Mike Wallace.

What were the comments??? or is it the comments he made on twitter about wanting to play with the Patriots or 49er's??? as he was in contract negotiations with the Steelers????

I still do believe the Redskins are all over Wallace and will do anything to obtain him. But, it would have to be Washington making another trade to get another first rd. draft pick. Maybe with the Patriots or whoever....

i'm sorry, but the thought of getting a 1st round pick anywhere later in the draft than 24( which is where we pick) for wallace just pisses me off.
That'd be like a team stealing him in my mind. I don't want a 1st round pick that is 6 away from being a second rounder for our pro bowl receiver.

It is looking like the Redskins really do want a RG3 to Wallace combo.... Is a solid plan if you ask me ,because RG3 is Cam like and will stetch the D with his running style and Wallace is a burner and will stetch the field vertically....

Also I am sure these 2 players would fill the seats and boost the concession sales for the Team for at least 3 or 4 seasons.....

I do not think the Redskins will be alone in the Wallace chase, and I also believe that Wallace wants more money than the Steelers would like to pay....IMO if Wallace was willing to take a Home Town discount he would already have signed a deal for 7 Mil or so a year...Wallace wants the Big contract closer to the 10 Mil a year mark IMO and I thin he might just get it ,just not from the Steelers...

This is a smart move by Wallace he needs to get paid while he can..If his production trend continues in the post seasons or he has a year the way he finished this year he would loose 4 or 5 Mil a year ....Also a player of his type who depends on speed is 1 play away from being broke.....He is not a crisp route runner,he is not a strong handed WR,he is not a good blocker,he is not strong enough to fight for the ball or fight his way off the line....The bottom line is if he gets close to average speed he is a below average WR and his value would not be worth very much.....

IMO Colbert and the Steelers know this and are playing the situation exactly correct....Hope he doesn't get any offers and keep him for a reasonable amount or sign him to a reasonable contract ,to much risk involed to give him the big deal...The Steelers don't need him to sell there seats,,,I think this is an angle a lot of peeps are not looking at....
