Redman was on the Vinnie and Cook show this morning discussing camp, the offense, and his thoughts on being the starter. One cool sound clip was-

"I've been waiting for this opportunity since I was six years old"

    Other notable quotes:

    On the new offense:
'it kind of came easy to me. You can kind of put things together from the old offense 'that kinds of helps you remember the new offense'...it's kind of easier for the rb's to learn than BAs system, we don't have to do as much in the blocking schemes and pass protection as BA's schemes, it's a lot easier on the younger guys...'

'In this offense we're getting out a lot, we're not staying in to help the line unless we're called upon to do it...'If nobody's open, they're stressing to the QBs to dump it off to the RBs'...so we're out getting open and we've got some good rbs that can make you miss in the open field and get some extra yards'.

TY... A very nice interview and Redman continues to show he is true,he always speaks about getting the younger guys ready he never throws a peer under the Bus......He has paid his dues and I am sure the GL running will be dominate with the new blood on the OL and the new system....Redman will look like a man amongst boyz a lot of times just like he did in College....

Great interview. I love hearing that Haley is preaching to throw the ball to the RB's. That was lacking under BA.

You are correct ,without a doubt.....BA wanted the deep ball,he really doesn't understand how to force a D to be thin.....It is really simple math if you bring 6 against a 5 man front you can only double 1 side...This means the TE and a WR and a RB are 1 on 1 early....The huge bonus is 1 of those guys could be 1 on nobody if the play is going the right direction.....

Very similar to some of the Pats plays where a guy catches the ball and the nearest tackler is 15 yards away...We have never seen that under BA and no one ever will.....Under Haley we will see that and we will see it often IMO....

I agree. Though I often wondered if the lack of dumping off was more on Ben than BA - I remember often seeing Mendenhall open for 5 or 6 yards, when Ben hauled it out for 20 or 30. But I do agree that BA didn't emphasise this anywhere near enough (especially given that getting the ball in open field would have been playing to Mendy's strength).

Was the Coach ....He never practiced it and he never really expected it...Haley will teach Ben to realize that by throwing the wide open stuff ten the tight stuff will open up when they adjust....Ben was in bad need of Haley because he is as good as any ,but he has really never been Coached to make the game go the way he wants it...He has the physical skills to pick a D apart ,but BA was affraid to teach him the mental,,,to hear BA say it...

In reality BA didn't know how and now we have a OC who does.....That's the bottom line...

No doubt Ben didn't make the throws he should have made to the RB's and TE's, and if it happens here or there, it's on Ben. When it happens every single game for years, that's on the coaches. The coaches need to step in and make sure Ben uses all his weapons, and the coaches didn't do that. Who knows if Arians ever even practiced it.
