I can't believe what I'm reading! Trade away one of our LBs or Troy?! Because we have had poor outings in a still early season? No. Name me a team that has reached sustained success by trading away key, integral parts of their team in order to obtain high picks. I feel as though this is a major knee-jerk reaction...calm down, don't panic...this is very easily recovered from. Yes, the secondary needs to improve, but you don't cut off your nose to spite your face.

In response to nitrous: I can't speak for the Brownies, but the Bills picks (which actually aren't always high...just from the top of my head, they've only had two top ten picks in the last several drafts, one being Dareus, who will meet expectations, the other being Spiller) are always terrible because they keep switching schemes (4-3, no 3-4, screw it...back to 4-3), they dick around with useless qbs (Losman, Edwards, Holcomb, Fitzpatrick) rather than drafting one in the first (with the exception of Losman...who was a Tulane product ffs), and they have no idea how to keep players on their roster, rather than seeing them released into free agency (this last offseason being the exception with Jackson, Johnson, and Chandler). Their players come to naught because their coaching is weak as a newborn, they draft poorly, and they have had vanilla defensive schemes since Philips left (or, at the very least, Mularkey).

The Steelers build through the draft. We don't trade away talent, though, in order to get youth. Youth comes into the system and is developed...which is the way it should be. :yeehaw:

but it's not being developed. why is larry foote starting? why is casey hampton playing so much? why is max starks still starting? why is colon starting? why are we bringing mendy back so quick to start over the young talent behind him? why is worilds still learning the defense? why doesn't brown see the field on defense? why is mundy playing so bad only to be replaced with will allen thats even worse? why is saunders cut for pope? why is foster still starting? i'm not seeing all this development under this coaching staff.

Get some guys who can cover the receivers then you'll see a different team. The LB's need time to break through the OL wall, if receivers are open from the snap , that isn't leaving very much time for the Lb's to get to the QB. If qb's are getting rid of the ball within 2 1/2 secs and it takes the LB's 4 sec to reach the QB, you do the math it = Ike getting burned 99% of the time. Along with the rest of the bums

I'd like to rebuild and trade a bunch of the members of this message board. This is a rediculous post. Who's going to replace the guys your trading away? The two new DB's? Get out and get some fresh air and give it a rest.

These are the players we have this season, wacky trade idea's and starting every third stringer isn't going to happen. Get behind and support the team and stop whining about everything!

Agreed, Worilds is a bust. The dude was drafted around the same position as Woodley and he can't hold Woodley's jock. We need playmakers, I love the way Amerson attacks the ball, and right now I think he's in the 15-20 range in round 1. I like Brandon Banks in that range too.

Amerson's combne will determine if he is top 10 pick vs a 2nd round pick. I don't think he will test well...compared to the smaller DB's....going to be just like Sean Smith....they will think he needs to be a Safety...and not a CB.

Why is Larry Foote starting? Pretty easy...he has been our best LB on the team this year so far.

I am all for trading to make this team better...but I am trading FOR a player....mostly for next season...Rolando McClain....not trading away my starters for next year.

I really don't have much faith in trading for a pick to get another cornerback. I think time has showed we are not good at developing great to elite cornerbacks with the exception of only a few.

I would much rather get a FA cornerback that is a proven commodity.

They will hang on to Troy until he starts looking really terrible out on the field, they will put up with his injuries for another year or two probably. But I don't think Harrison will be traded, he most likely will be out right cut, I don't think Steelers will want to pay him his big time salary anymore if he remains injured.

There's no way we get a first for Troy and I doubt we get much for Harrison either. THey're injured alot, expensive, and at the end of their careers. We might get a decent return for Woodley or TImmons, but that would leave us way too thin at linebacker.

When have we ever been able to stop the pass? I mean, purely stop the pass when the QB is throwing, in rhythm. The Steelers have always relied on the pass rush to disrupt the opposing passing game.

I agree. Many teams are having O-Line issues, as well. They may not get the press the Steelers O-Line does, but it's happening.

So should we just continue doing things the way we have been for say the past two years?? If you are okay with squeaking by because of an easy schedule and then getting blown out by Tebow then I guess you are correct- no rebuilding is necessary....

And the Brown's biggest problem is that they have a really high turnover at the coaching level....there is no consistency. I havent notice them doing a massive rebuild any more than any other team - except for maybe at QB...

No way do I think we are ok the way we are. But apparently your idea of rebuilding and mine must be different. Because rebuilding is exactly what the browns have been doing for the past several years. If you're talking about replacing players in some much needed areas then we're on the same page. We definitely aren't sitting pretty right now and we can not sit back and act like we aren't hurting at spots. But rebuilding to me means rebuilding, not fixing holes. Rebuilding talk usually entails major changes in coaching staffs, coaches, key player positions, possibly front office, etc. And that's exactly what the browns have been doing in what seems like forever. I don't want to be like that, sorry. We're nowhere near that stage of urgency.

we have to rebuild the defense , staring from the coach to 5 or 6 players

So is it the DC that's screwing up the defense and not calling plays that put our players into the best positions to make plays? Or is it the players that aren't executing their assignments properly and making our defense look lack luster? If you say it's on DL then maybe those 5 to 6 players you mentioned aren't really the problem. If you say those 5 to 6 players aren't doing their jobs properly maybe they are making DL's schemes look bad and he's not really the problem. Or should we simply throw in the towel and start from scratch because we are too far gone at this point to even try to fix the D with out a total rebuild?

I'm just wondering what your opinions are on that line of thinking :)

both , i love dl but his scheme needs perfect esecution since we don't have that he is afraid to change and we keep leaving others qb to have a field day , than we need better players because someone is embarassing or at the end of the road
