Maybe it depends on how involved Pouncey was in the 2007 murder Hernandez has been implicated in.

I've always said, I think he goes to Miami with his brother. they are from there. most had his brother coming here.

swanson is the real deal though. best mobility since joe Thomas is the word. we need a backup and this would insure we have a good one when or if he goes home with his brother to play.

On a side note, of all the color hats to choose from they chose the two most affiliated with major gangs.

I cant believe how seriously this is getting blown out of proportion. Did wearing the hats show poor judgement? Yeah probably but you have two young men celebrating their birthday where there is a good chance that alcohol was involved and one of their friends give them the hats a gag gift and they wear them in the spirit of fun. Now I am not sure that is the way it went but since I haven't seen anything that says they have come out in support of Hernandez or that they are of the opinion he is innocent I can't take the wearing of the hats as anything more than a joke. These two are already being tried and convicted in the court of public opinion just because they were teammates with the guy in college and were friends with him. Heck I can't believe people are talking about getting rid of Pouncey over this, I mean it isn't like he is accused of forcing himself on some college girl in a bathroom with other teammates running interference for him. I chalk this up to stupid drunk hijinks and would think if their mother doesn't chew them out both ownerships will and they will not have a repeat of the behavior.

Not a real smart move due to the sensitivity and that someone got murdered. Hernandez is a gangland punk. Just goes to show the brain power of some humans.

Just snap the ball and stay healthy Pouncey.

Hopefully he gets ripped a new @ss by the front office and Tomlin.

Free speech and common sense most times are on separate ends of the spectrum.

This sounds like the same as Mendenhall running his mouth or twitter account about bin laden. Then I believe after that he wasn't in good gracious with the organization and finally was released when his contract was up. Could this happen to Pouncey over wearing a hat? I doubt it. But it does make you wonder if they fine a suitable replacement in the draft would they let him go.
    And don't forget Chris Raney.......

    From his twitter account...

I fully recognize the seriousness of the situation involving my former teammate, and I regret that my actions appear to make light of that serious situation. I apologize to anyone who was offended by my actions.

I still don't understand why people want to post all of their emotional thoughts on Twitter and Facebook then want to recant those actions. Too late. Damage done. Deal with the backlash and maybe think first next time.

Did he post something on Twitter or FB regarding Hernandez? I'm only aware of the hat photos from the nightclub.

Here's my 2 cents worth. If you've read Pouncey's tweets and/or his response to ....fans... you'll see a guy who is not the nice kid down the street. We as fans what to see great players and fantasize that their "moral character" is as high as their on field performance. That just isn't the case always and when it isn't we're disappointed.

Did Pouncey show poor judgement in wearing the hat. NO!! To me the picture is an example, a snapshot, of how he's living his life. I do think it was in poor taste considering the situation but I don't buy for one second that tweet was his words or his feelings. He just typed the words the Steelers PR man handed him.

An empty apology is worse than an empty promise.

You've mentioned this before, what are you basing that on? Examples? If it's because he doesn't take crap from fans, I agree with him 100%.

The hat was stupid though, very poor judgment.

Here is one example of an exchange he had with a guy named Rick:
Pouncey has issued apologies before. Almost immediately after the Steelers' overtime playoff loss in Denver after the 2011 season in a game in which Pouncey didn't play because of an ankle injury, he took to Twitter to urge followers to buy a rapper's music. He ended up in a Twitter war with someone named Rick, who questioned his timing after such a tough defeat.
"I'm rich play for the steelers and have a awesome life!" Pouncey tweeted. "u wish u had my life!! your a loser Rick!"

Pouncey has to do better than this. I understand that some fans may push your buttons but as a representative of the Pittsburgh Steelers, he cant' be getting involved in petty foolishness like this on Twitter or anywhere else. This was just stupid on his part.

Well that makes him a little immature, doesn't mean he isn't a nice guy. I would have no problem with that if he worded that differently. I detest fans like Rick, Pouncey is right, he is a loser.

Yeah, but it's fans like Rick (and you and me) that have made Pouncey the multi-millionaire that he is today. Not saying a player has to take abuse, verbal or otherwise, from a fan, but sometimes you've got to let it go. It doesn't sound like Rick did anything but question his timing about promoting the rap CD. We just got our butts handed to us by Tim Tebow and the Broncos and all Pouncey could think about was promoting his boy's CD. I don't blame Rick for questioning the timing. Pouncey needs to remember that it's these fickle fans that buy tickets to games, buy his jersey, pay for NFL Network, pay for Sunday Ticket, watch the games so advertisers can advertise, etc. that makes it possible for him to have the kind of life that Rick doesn't. Pouncey was over the line!

I'd like to see Ricks tweets, I seriously doubt he was mature about it. And what you may be forgetting, is that athletes are subjected to this stuff constantly, can't let them all go. I personally wouldn't even be on social media if I was an athlete or movie star or whatever, too many a-holes out there.

As for the loss, people handle things differently Jack, maybe that's Pounceys way of dealing with it, take his mind off it. You are seriously mistaken if you, Rick or any other fan thinks you take a loss harder then the actual players. Yeah, sure, there are exceptions to every rule and maybe some players don't give a crap but on a whole, it kills players much much more then fans. You aren't out there in 95 degree weather, the freezing cold, rain, snow and getting your ass kicked in practice and on game days, the fans aren't the ones busting their ass to win a SB. You say Pouncey crossed the line, I say fans like Rick cross the line way more and I say Rick crossed the line here as much as Pouncey did. Who the heck is Rick to question Pouncey? Because he is a fan? I couldn't care less, that entitles him to nothing. I don't care if Rick buys football gear or goes to games, he's not doing that to help support Pouncey financially, he does it for his own selfish reasons, because he loves the game, believe me, he doesn't have the financial well being of the players in mind when he buys things or goes to games.

When you're a high profile professional athlete and choose to involve yourself in social media, you open yourself up to all kinds of verbal abuse and scrutiny. If you are ill-equipped to handle the verbal missile hurled your way then the best thing for you to do is to get off Twitter, Facebook, etc. I think Pouncey should seriously consider doing so.

You expect them to be robots, I've seen you lose your cool on here and you aren't subjected to one tenth of what these guys are. Maybe fans should act like human beings and then athletes wouldn't have to hide. But unfortunately, a lot of these fans are filth so yes, Pouncey should consider getting off social media.

I don't follow pouncy, just read some of his stuff via other peoples twitter feeds.

I'll say this, there's a right way and a wrong way to respond to people/fans and the way you use it reflects your character. As a player or a famous person you got to know you have fans AND haters.
