As expected, Chad Spann has been promoted from the practice squad. RB Albert Young has been signed to the practice squad to fill the spot.

Not sure who they moved to make room for him. My guess is C. Allen to IR with his Forearm injury but we'll just have to wait and see.

I thought Cortez Allen had a separated shoulder.

I guess they could move Mewelde to make room?

I've heard sep shoulder-Biceps and/or triceps- Now I'm hearing forearm. Let's just say a right arm injury.
I doubt they move Moore unless he's hurt worst than we thought and since they haven't already moved him I'm thinking they aren't going to.

    Love your SN

I like Chad Spann I hope he can help us...He led the nation in 2010 in rushing touchdowns....so he has a knack for finding the end zone....which has been a problem for our RBs this year

Pittsbugh Post Gazette is saying Moore might possibly play in Denver so he isnt going on IR. I would say it would be Allen - he looked really hurt.

Take a look at his highlight reel:

Man, I like this guy. He's tough runner with a little attitude. Seems to have a knack for finding the enzone and when he gets tackled, he's falling forward.

This guy has potential like MJD or Ray Rice. I hope we keep him around and give him a shot to make the team next year.

I could see our RBs including Reddman, Clay, Batch and Spann if Mendy's injury hampers him. No need to spend a bunch of money as you can find very good RBs.

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems obvious to me that this Spann kid is taking Mendenhall's spot on the roster, no?

The thing i like about him is if bens ankle gets rolled on again he played in the pistol formation. Its a lot different then a pro style and if we had to switch to it i would put him in. Tough tough runner.

    What's up with Dwyer?

I watched the first minute of the highlight vid and I love how Spann usually gives the football right to the refs. Seems to indicate a no nonsense type of mentality.

    LB Chris Carter on IR

Steelers have placed LB Chris Carter on IR and added RB Chad Spann (Northern Illinois) to the active roster from our practice squad.

I didn't realise Carter was injured.

Now, as long as we don't go thin at LB as well... do we have any position with depth on the roster at the moment? :hmmm:

From the youtube video, Spann appears to have some good yardage after initial contact. Although it doesn't look like he'll have any impact on this year's team, it might be nice to see him compete in camp next year. If he couldn't get playing time in Indy or Tampa, he might have issues.
