On ESPN Lewis is crying that it's a Powder Puff League. Can't say I disagree with him.

But Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa! We lost and I couldn't even play.

What's his beef? The Refs basically let them play yesterday. Think of it - they could have had TWO roughing the passer penalties.

I guess he just wishes he could have played so he could have broken Batch's nose and probably believes they may have flagged it this time. Gooddell NFL = Powder Puff (Still agree with him here though)

I do not DISAGREE with him - but I don't think this game is a good example. Like I said - the officials pretty much let them play. It was one of the least penalized games of the season for the Steelers - and in particular for a Ravens/Steelers matchup.

That may be true, but I have seen WAY lesser hits than the one that Charlie took be flagged for roughing (ie the one on Aaron Rodgers earlier in the day was RIDICULOUS). The defender took several extra steps after the ball was gone- sorry in this day and age, that's roughing the passer.

Ray Lewis is exactly right. It wasn't just in our game yesterday that they were calling a buch of ticky tacky crap. This "player safety" thing is so lame. Ok most players can't make it through a 16 game season healthy. So let's ADD 2 more games??? Even UNDER these flag football rules people are STILL getting hurt and Goodell wants to ADD TWO WHOLE GAMES??? What an idiot! But the lack of physicality really does suck. Remember at one point when they said that Mike Tomlin showed the team a hit made by Ryan Clark and talked about what a good fundamental hit it was? Then the league fined Clark for THAT VERY HIT! When the rules are so shaded in gray that even a the coach OR players can't understand them the refs have WAY too much power!

He should be thankful that we have a powder puff legal system.

The PI on Allen was a killer. He could've EASILY caught that ball and we got penalized 30 yards for that! Also, even though I'm glad it happened, they blew the whistle early while Flacco was getting sacked by Foote. The "in the grasp" rule is no longer in the book so they could've let that play go on. But in order to "protect" Flacco they blew it dead. That would REALLY suck if they did that to us because you know that's when Ben makes a majority of his plays is when he has a guy hanging on him. And honestly I suppose they "technically" roughed Charlie but had they let that go I don't think anyone would be talking about it today. Again I'm glad we got the call I'm just saying that they weren't exactly letting us play either.

I guess I saw the overall game differently. I think there was a lot of hard hitting - and very few calls.

Regarding the Flacco "sack" - I tend to agree that it was an early whistle, but I don't think that play would have gone anywhere if it hadn't been blown dead. The Steelers defenders pulled up when the whistle blew and I really think they had the angles to make that play a loss anyway.

I think they re-instituted the grasp rule this year. I remember and article that Ben would be less effective, as the many sacks he avoids will now be called in the grasp. If so, I think that was the right call.

Pretty sure Reed said it, not Ray Lewis.

But either way, he's right. The NFL caters to casual fans, since they are the fickle group. Casual fans for the most part want the high scoring offenses and defenses that either get lit up or get ints and sack/fumbles. The days of defenses that just force incomplete passes, and stuff rushes for a bunch of 2 yard gains are dying.

What defenses have the media humped the past few years? Packers and Saints were praised during their super bowl runs for their ability to get turnovers. Now look at how garbage their defenses are when they aren't getting the turnovers.

The most impressive stat last year was how our team defense was near the bottom in turnovers, yet we were still the number 1 defense in the nfl.
