Just saw where that is going to be coming on. As much as I hate him it is only cause he is on the Ravens. Do you guys ever think what the Steelers could be with him at LB? Same goes for Ray Rice we had a chance at drafting him if I am not mistaken.

This thread will get moved to a more obscure location so before it does I just want to say this. My dad called me the other day and asked me what was wrong with the Steelers and I said "well we have no depth and we don't seem to have any leadership. As much as I hate Ray Lewis I have to say that I would LOVE to have a guy on our D that's willing to get up in dude's faces and let 'em have it". I personally can't stand Ray Lewis but I would love to have a guy with that much intensity. As far as Rice goes him and Ed Reed are the ONLY Ravens I even respect. Ed and Troy are the 2 best to ever do what they do pretty much. IMHO.

The question remains, should a person who witnessed and covered for two murders be allowed INTO the HOF?

    Nah.
    Perhaps in time.

Agreed! We haven't had anyone with the intensity as Ray Lewis since Joey Porter.

First let me state, I hate the Ravens and the Pats more than any other teams
in the league. Ray Lewis plays football the way it is suppose to be played,
Never hear him bitchen, complaining, he just goes out and makes plays
he motivates people to be the best they can be. He may have a higher calling
to do more motivating when his playing days are over.

Well said. J Peezy was the same way when he was in his prime.

I'd love to see him in Black & Gold. Love him or hate him, you have to admit that the guy is a beast. There was a lot of talk about him coming into camp a lot lighter than he has been in the past and how much it might hurt his play. He had an awesome 1st game, I think he finished with 14 tackles.

As far as him being inducted into the HoF... he is a lock.

Ray Rice would have been useless on this team with our Oline and BA's scheme/playcalling. Lets not forget Mendenhall had 2 great years before a slightly down year last year. Mendenhall is a beast in the open field. Get him involved in the passing game, get him in the open field and you'll see why he's just as talented as Ray Rice, although a very different player.

As for Ray Lewis, how different things would be if we had him. It's quite possible we'd have another Superbowl or two. He's only one player, but certain players can create a culture of success and can elevate the play of others. He seems to be one of those people.

I don't think he's the greatest M/ILB of all-time, much less the greatest LB. Of course, those proclamations are always subjective and opinion anyway. I just got tired of hearing it all of the time since his FOURTH year in the league. I also do not like his crafted image of being some kind of guru or spiritual leader (Atlanta says hi). Maybe it is genuine, but it's also a bit convenient that the media bought into it hook line and sinker starting as early as 6 months after his "moral mistake." Be that as it may, he has managed to make himself a positive role model, so I suppose it's all water under the bridge.

That said, he is definitely a lock for first ballot Hall of Fame. He's on a short list of all-time LBers. Nobody can doubt his intensity, nor his ability to raise the talent and overall play of those around him. If he ever is interested in coaching, hire him immediately.

As others have said, if he's wearing your uniform, you love him. If he's not, you hate him (but secretly wish you had him).

Michael Vick is still hated by a lot of people outside of the football world, but most football fans and seemingly all people on sports television television (at least those that voice their opinions) are practically in love with him. Doing something only the inhuman scum of society would even consider, and then apologizing and "reforming" yourself, makes you a better man than not doing anything wrong ever. I don't know why. People love a story, I guess, whether it's true or not. But I will never understand the "people make mistakes, he paid his debt" attitude toward either one of these men. It's just not how it is the rest of the world.

I tolerate the talk of Ray Lewis being a great linebacker. He is a great linebacker, but the talk is way overboard. I think he's very overrated, but that's the case a lot of the time. LaDainian Tomlinson was very overrated, and I have no problem with him and actually kind of liked him. People just get so worked up, they think whatever they're seeing at the moment is the best thing ever. Take yourself back in time and Terrell Davis was better than Barry Sanders, according to the consensus. What I simply can't stand is all the talk about what a great man he is off the field. He's made out to be some kind of saint. It's completely stupid. I don't care about what kind of father he is, or if he's a priest, or what he does for charity. How many men in the league are all those things and more, and never were heavily involved to an unknown extent in a double murder? In the case of Vick, I believe his entire "redemption" story is a sham. A good one, too, since it got him his $100 million back. With Lewis, I have no idea. But even if he cries himself to sleep each night with remorse, I still don't see how that puts him ahead of even one guy who doesn't need a redemption story because he never did anything wrong. So yeah, I'm sick to death of him.

The important thing is that some large and poor man will now be able to purchase a very expensive albeit bloody suit at a very reasonable price at the nearby Goodwill. A little Oxy Clean, and job interview, here I come!

I also watched it, and i have to admit that even though i "hate"/dislike Ray Lewis as a Raven i do like him as a person, father, and Football player hes a born leader and without a doubt will be a first ballot HOF'er. You can tell he really loves being a father and he really wants to make the right impression and do the right thing for his children you gotta respect that. Even though he will be successful after his Footbal days are over i think he will have a hard time dealing with it once that time comes you can tell he will. Regardless of what really happened with the muder situation its how a person learns from it and how he/she leads their life afterwards we all make mistakes in life but its how we bounce back and lives our lives after the fact and it seems Mr. Lewis is living the dream can't hate on that. :amen: :flag:
