Do you also realize both of his injuries came after catching the ball because he's not use to protecting himself when getting the ball behind defenders? He's use to everyone being in front of him for the most part.

I do. I don't care tho. It's not like he's never caught a pass before and got tackled. He injured his foot running the ball his rookie year, should we keep him from running it too?

He got hurt getting tackled. One was a knee shot and the other was being pulled down from the side/behind. They weren't similar tackles and they weren't similar injuries. If we limit his impact on the field because we're scared of him getting hurt then we don't deserve to win games. Anybody can be hurt at any time out there. He's going to run the ball a lot because he's awesome at it. He's going to catch the ball because he is awesome at that as well. What's the point of having him out there if you aren't going to use all the tools in his arsenal?

Both of his injuries came after catching the ball. There's a reason why. He's a RB and not use to protecting himself from hits like that.

Yeah, I know, I read that the first time. It's completely irrelevant.

Lets see 865 touches running and no injuries... 200 catches and 2 injuries. I see you go to the school of Tomlin.

I take back what I said earlier about a Pouncey comment being the most absurd thing I have ever read here. You won the prize.

How does a WR protect himself as opposed to a RB? This should be good.

It's pretty simple. He's a running back, he's rarely getting tackled at high speeds from behind. Receivers are use to it, that's why Brown just runs out of bounds. Bell didn't protect himself at all when he got pulled down from behind and injured by Burfict. First one, he takes a knee on knee at high speed trying to catch the ball. Never happens if he was just running the ball.

Look, I like Bell as a receiving threat. All I said and what started this whole argument is this one game 1) I wish we had a back-up to split some carries with him and 2) I don't want him receiving balls. Burfict and the goons on the Bengals will line him up and try to injure him. We got a game in hand. This game isn't even that important the Ravens game is. So if we can't beat the Bengals will Bell just running and Brown/Green passing threat then so be it.

Neither do receivers. But what about when Bell breaks one and is tackled from behind? Whats the difference then?

I see Bell run out of bounds plenty of times. Again, how does one protect themselves when being tackled from behind?

Plenty of RB have had their knees blown out while running the ball. Plenty of receivers too when catching the ball, no way to protect yourself from that.

I know your disdain for Tomlin so I'll just say no coach is going to play a guy less because they are afraid he may get hurt.

If Burfict wants to hurt Bell, he'll do it whether he is running the ball or receiving the ball.

I'll also add that Bell is as experienced a receiver as any one. He has 219 receptions for 1952 yards. In his one full season, he had 83 receptions for 854 yards. Those are a WR numbers.

Theres no difference from protecting yourself as a receiver or as a RB. When you see a hit coming, you make yourself more compact, lower your head and deliver the hit, if you are in position to deliver it. When you don't see a hit coming
