Ravens contract issues

I just read an article that says the Ravens are starting to talk to Flacco about a new contract, and his agent said something along the lines of Flacco hasn't ever missed a game, and is top 5 in wins since he's been a starter... so he deserves top 5 QB money!!!


Also read the Ravens are not close at all on a new contract with Ray Rice so they will almost definitely franchise him. There's some speculation a team towards the end of round 1 like the Giants, or Pats, could try to steal him and give up a 1st rounder.

All this seems like a good thing for us (esp. if they lost Rice, he's the engine that keeps their entire offense running).

 

Franchising Ray Rice isn't the same as tendering Mike Wallace. If the steelers tender Mike Wallace, it costs $2.7 million if no once else makes a grab for him, and then it will cost them whatever they sign him for (if we don't match it) plus their first round draft pick. If we franchise him, it will cost us $9.5 million, but he's ours for the next year.

If Ray Rice is franchised, its going to cost the Ravens $8.1 million. but since its not a tender, he's not signing with anyone else.

 

Depends on if it's the exclusive tag or not.

 

Flacco top 5.... Yeah right? More like top 10 (around 8-9)

 

When I read this stat about Flacco..I had to check...and they are right about he has the more wins in first 4 years..BUT...numbers can be deceiving...look at the first 64 games started instead..

Flacco................. 44 wins 20 losses
Roethlisberger ....... 45 wins 19 losses (includes first 9 games of 5th season)

and the biggest difference...Flacco is 4-3 in playoffs.....Ben is 10-3 including 2-1 in Superbowls....and Ben isnt even in the top 5 paid QBs

Yeah, this is crazy. That agent is an idiot to think Flacco is top 5. The defense makes that team along with Rice.
