Honestly with mason since day one he has looked as if he processes the game too slow. He might have been a great college QB but the pro game may never slow down for him.

fichtners lack of any real offensive scheme doesn’t help either.

    True that Mac!

But come on now we are "O"-fer on how many D-Backs up to this point in Tomlin's career? The odds are that by now we should have hit on at least one by now under this administration (What, 12 years now?). Especially (fair or not), since our HC's background is supposedly "up this alley". QBs are not much of a different story. However, they are definitely the trickiest position, IMO, to get draft right. Take care.

Fichtner is just not very bright and has nothing on his resume that should have given him merit to be offensive coordinator other then Ben liked him. The guy is a goof and his playcalling especially at key moments in games is absolutely terrible. I hated the call on 3rd and goal yesterday with over 3 minutes left where instead of running clock since the Bengals had no timeouts they had Duck roll out and throw the ball which costs them 40-50 seconds on the clock which was a very stupid play. He is just not very good and needs replaced.

I agree we have bigger issues. But this is where Randy needs to earn his paycheck. He needs to put less talented players in the best possible position to succeed, and in my opinion he is not doing that.Im sure his job was a whole lot easier with Ben and Brown in the mix. This team has enough talent to compete every week ,but to do that you must maximize their talent.

I suspect the coaches know and see more than any of us. They give players a chance to develop. I believe they attempt to correct the issues. Wouldn't you want to correct the issues if it were your job on the line? Players simply can't be "fixed" like a car. Ultimately it's up to the players to execute on what they were taught. Players that can't execute eventually get replaced. The NFL is pretty ruthless in that regard.

I and many others have been saying it for a while now and with the injuries it's more obvious. Execution takes you so far... even when the play calling is boneheaded from the formation to snap "sometimes" it will work in spite of laws and averages... Yet more often than not, its doomed as soon as the gate swings open.

Situational play calling (FOOTBALL!!!) does not exist in this dojo. No one is put in position to better maximize whatever potential they have... Been that way for a long while and the story of this season is blowing that accusation into reality at a rapid clip.

This team in its current state is honestly 1 serious X's and O's leader away from being a wow squad and having that said student of the game in the building going awhile back wouldve produced a bit more hardware. Talent less as they may appear, they're still bucking the odds with head scratching leadership. If the neck up aspect was squared away, they'd be in a much better position and would have been so when they were uber talented.

The problem is our O-line has, it seems to me, been better at pass blocking than run blocking a VERY long time. The offense was built around passing the ball and the 3 B`s. It`s like we have no way to go back to being a balanced attack, so we are screwed on offense.

Other than the the first Cincinnati game, I have yet to discern an actual gameplan designed to attack a specific team. Other than that, I've seen nothing but generic bs that didn't seem catered to exploit any opposing defense. No creativity at all.

It leads me to believe one of two things. Randy is simply incompetent. Or MR is so bad that Randy basically has to run a high school offense in hopes that the "film rat" can possibly run it to any degree of proficiency.

I can't believe that any coach that has managed to make his way to OC in the NFL is an idiot. It's much more likely that Rudolph blows. Which he does. I'm tired of hearing how the Steelers had a 1st rd grade on him. That is obviously an indictment of the Steelers more than a miscalculation by all the other clubs. He sucks. Give me as many dislikes as you want. He sucks. He's a young Kent Graham. He sucks. The guy sucks. Prove me wrong. You can't. You know why? Cause he sucks. I've had it with dancing around this, trying to be fair and positive. He sucks! No arm. No legs. No awareness. No accuracy. No instincts whatsoever. Did I mention that he sucks?

I just wonder how far he would've fell had they not taken him? What were they looking at anyway? Somebody posted his scouting report a little while ago. It was perhaps the most accurate report I've ever read. It explained to a "T" all the ways that he sucks. Can we hire that guy for the front office? Hopefully he wasn't one of ours.

This guy sucks! I'm done. I want him out of my life. I can't go through Kordell again. I had to just stop watching games back then. I began to think really violent thoughts against Kordell then.

Not too long ago we were all calling for Keith Butlers head and now he has the defense playing at an extremely high level. I'm gonna give Fitch a break here because he is basically working with very limited talent due to all of the injuries. This currently is a patchwork offense and they have a winning record with it.

Watching the 49ers last night, I saw some really creative offensive play calling. Watching the Steelers, I saw some very vanilla plays. Is it the coach or the players? Are we one playmaker away from being very good - like our D was?

I have been asking this since Ben went down? Why not go with 2 TE's these guys can
play you have to let them. This is where a true offensive game planner of Offensive mind would come into play.
    We don't have this.

And the coaches should see more than us, that's the point. We didn't see MR was slow footed with heavy legs and didn't or wasn't able to slide in the pocket until we saw him in a couple of games. Coaches see him every day in practices and preseason, they should of seen his problems way before we did and either fixed it or got a better QB thru trades or however. Once the season started it's too late to try to develop a QB who's fundamental wrong in the pocket.

They say MR studies and spends a lot of time on opposing teams and defenses. He and the coaches should of spent more time with MR on fixing his lack of moving in the pocket, something all good QB do well. MR doesn't do it at all and thus his throws are horrible when rushed, he'll try to throw over the top of the rush and it's usually high or off target, you never see him slide to avoid the rush or even to get a better throwing lane or stepping into his throws. This is not rocket science coaching but basic Jr high school QB coaching.

They give players a chance to develop and get better. Understand? MR story isn't done just yet.

From what I could see the Steelers ran creative plays on offense. What the offense was missing most was more consistent QB play.

Yep, that is the problem. Lack of creativity. For instance, down near the goal line every play needs to have some sort of deception built in to increase the chance of getting a TD instead of a FG.

The 49ers have their franchise QB, a Pro Bowl TE and a top 5 running game, the Steelers have none of that.

    I still don't trust the 49ers QB.
It's up to him to throw it all away.
