Random Thoughts...

I usually do notes during the game (That's how I used to write my thoughts).
Today, let me share some with you and read your opinions:

- Going for it early on 4th down, that's 3 points we'll need later.
- Early success running = 115 yards on offense = only 3 points?
- Brown not getting 2 feet inbounds = 4 points off the board.
- No pressure = 3rd down success for opposing QB, either named Brady or... Mallet
- Playcalling change: we're on passing mode now. Will the run come back?
- Boykin blitzes, sack. Have we forgotten how to be aggressive on defense, or just a pretty much conservative playcalling?
- 14 consecutive pass plays = 2 punts, 1 int, 1 drive to the 1 yardline (next play: rushing TD, passing streak over).
- Why are we wasting timeouts early 3rd qtr?
- 2 PI penalties, and we are at Bal 1yardline. If they can't cover, and commit penalties, why not try this more often?
- Terrible clock management before 2 minute warning: we got the ball at the 20 with 2:55, and managed to gain 17 yards in 55 seconds.
- Game compromised: 1st and 10, sack: that gets us to 2nd & 18.
- Next to last drive: 2nd & 18, screen pass for 3 yards. 3rd & 15, long pass to Bryant, 4th & 15, long pass to Wheaton. Come on, that's 3 downs.
- Wheaton & Bryant dropped balls, next to last drive.
- Wheaton + Bryant + Heyward- Bey = 5 rec, 57 yds???
- Ben's killer ints. Both, forced throws to well covered receivers.
- Defense not able to generate pressure or TO.
- Turnovers: Pit 2, Bal 0.
- 3rd down efficiency: Bal 50%, Pit 25%.
- Penalty yards: Pit 3-25, Bal 12 - 121.
- Rushing yards: Pit 110, Bal 121.
- 73% of their 1st downs were converted on passing plays.


Going into the game, I thought scoring 20 should be enough to win this one.
Yes, coaching made some mistakes, But this one was also on execution. That's what I call a team loss.

I'm a Tomlin supporter, but coach T knows how to play up to the competition against really bad teams. We must have seen this one coming.

 

Our secondary is already weak and we can not generate a pass rush
Wheaton and Bryant needs to step up
other teams meticulously march down the field on us just getting first downs. Why we can't do that?
playing on the road you want point first. Going for it on 4th and one was not wise.
I hate that we use that two-man front and two outside linebackers. Because we get gashed on runs all the time.
Ben had a bad game. His decision making has been terrible.
I don't wish injury on anyone, but when they said Blake wasn't returning I was happy. But it didn't do any good.
