Here are some of my random thoughts:

-Failed FG drive (first failed fg): Why, on 3rd & 1, did we call empty set / passing play?
-What was that penalty on Kiesel? I've seen a lot of celebrations where players kneel (eg Tebow) and haven't been flagged
-1st down: run between the tackles. 2nd down: run between the tackles. 3rd & long: pass play. Really?
-Polamalu still has something left, so he'll be around next couple of years (I guess they'll ask him to take a paycut)
-Same about Foote: he can still play at a high level at least 1 more year
-Today wasn't on our D: Allowed 6 pts (3 of them on the final drive) and forced 3 turnovers (a shame our O got no points from them)
-Ben has not been the same before/after the injury
-We'll be fine when Hampton retires with McLendon as NT, although he should have gotten more reps all year long
-Timmons and Miller are this team's O & D MVPs, no matter what happens next week
-And officially, this was a bust season from Woodley
-Harrison isn't his old self anymore. He's a great player, and I will miss him, but.. is he worth THAT salary next year?
-Is Taylor / Lewis / C Allen the answer at CB? I'm starting to wonder if we really need to draft a CB early or not
-R Clark seems to get injured every game, is it his tackling tecnique or is he aging?
-Coach T was overconfident on Suisham: this guy is pretty reliable under 50 yds, but seems to have a disclaimer over that distance
-Will the Rooneys be as patient with this Coaching Staff as they have been in the past?

    Just some of my thoughts...

I dont know what to say about Foote. One one hand, he played pretty well this year as a whole. If this was a running league he still has a few good years left, but he struggled covering the TE's in the pass game today. His speed as he ages will be a liability.

Agree with all except for Foote, I just think he is average, most of his tackles seem to be 4 or 5 yards past the line of scrimmage, gets pushed back too much for a middle linebacker. Also getting slower and slower in pass coverage, can't keep up with the tight ends and backs.

My random thought is why with 14 seconds left and Cincy needing at least 10 to 15 more yards do you not double team their best and go to receiver AJ Green? Before they even hiked the ball I was yelling at the TV to double cover him that they will almost certainly go to him. 22 yards to AJ Green, season over.

I too agonize over the 3rd and 1 play, especially when Ben could have run for it as the play developed.

Larry Foote is talking about retirement. I recall him being the scourge of many on the "old" board (I guess some people needed to complain about someone on that 2008 defense, so it fell to him). I tip the cap to him- like Deshea Townshend, he was never a star, but he was here for a long time and gave his all every week.

I was yelling right with you before they hiked the ball. Do you wonder were the coaching is sometimes? But even the players should know, you got to double there best receiver with 14 seconds left and they need that yardage for the field goal.

The Persian dough boy, larry foote has given the Steeler organization
about 10 good years. He is no longer starting material and hasn't been for sometime
our problem is there is no one ready to take his place. I am all for
James Harrison moving to Larry's position, or we must draft an ILB
that can play right a away. Here is hoping Spence can come back and be
the player the Steelers need for this position? We have more problems than
what has been mentioned by the original poster. The Steelers FO
will have to work like hell to get us to be a high playoff caliber championship
caliber team. IMHO alot of things need changed.

I would also like to see Harrison move into Footes place. That would be intereresting. Who would take Harrison's spot on the outside?

I would say in that case they would move Woodley to Harrison's side and start Worilds on Woodley's old side. Worilds played better from that side than when he tried filling in for Harrison. I don't think it happens though. In my opinion if DL retires this year and Butler gets the nod they might start looking at a hybrid defense that uses alot of 4-3 looks. Now I am a 3-4 scheme guy but they simply have not replaced the talent at LB to keep up the long tradition of the 3-4 perhaps a hybrid would work till they can either draft more quality LB's or make the switch to a 4-3 with the concentration on the Tampa-2
