The Steelers missed their chance to dump Colbert in order to hire a real pro at recognizing talent.

    :hmm:

Drafting six Hall of Fame players constitutes as the inability to recognize talent? Interesting indeed.

It's either a genius move or a disaster in the making.

I've always wondered why Mayock never at a minimum got a gig in charge of scouting with a team.

There are few in the business more knowledgeable than Mayock when it comes to scouting and the draft process.

And I don't want anyone piggybacking saying "Well why couldn't Mel Kiper be a GM?". They are two different people. Kiper is in the ratings business. Mayock is more of a purist and certainly no nonsense. His public comments on the circus that the combine and draft antics had become were reassuring to me.

The problem is, there's alot more to being a GM than simply scouting and the draft. I do wish him well. Watching Mayock for the past 15 years has been a joy. I will miss him as a scouting fan no longer being able to see him on NFL Network.

At least you don't have Glenn delusions.

Read about it in the paper this morning. I knew the name was familiar, I just don't follow the draft.

Can he do contracts. deal with agents? Lets see how this plays out. He has a passion for
    evaluation though.
