Interesting indeed, I’m guessing they figured some things out about head coaching candidates and/or him being familiar with the organization lets them gain some value.

another take, watch and see if there are any draft day deals with the Rams. We’ve seen Baltimore get comp picks from coordinators getting hired away and I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a hand shake behind this with a 3rd round or later selection.

I think he should have gotten the job when they selected Arthur Smith, that was the head scratcher for me. Morris was a former HC who served as interim when they let Quinn go.

I think the falcons think he brings in the OC that we want. They have same problem Steelers have
    need to increase QB production.

Just curious but why was that a head scratcher? Morris’s record as a head coach was a lackluster 24-38 so he didn’t exactly wow anybody when he got the shot to be the head guy. I’ve never been a big fan of bringing a guy in who’s done it before but failed and some guys are better suited to be coordinators and not head coaches. Of course I guess if you really like the guy you can refer to Belichick’s record of 36-44 before the Pats hired him. Maybe they see something in Morris that leads them to believe he’ll evolve into a very good head coach. Who knows, he may go on one of those non-losing season streaks, lol.

Better yet he finds a Brady/Mahomes type and all of a sudden becomes a very good head coach;) Best thing if that would happen, keep those damn above average QB's in the NFC. If Damn Brady spent his career in the NFC we'd have at least waited until the SB for him to smoke us;)

The head scratcher was the hiring of Arthur Smith who had only 2 years as an OC with Tenn. Morris was on staff and finished the season after Quinn was let go, and demonstrated his ability to coach the team.

Fast forward 3 years and the Smith experiment is done. Maybe Morris would have been done but he wasn't given the chance. Now they're willinging to see what he has. Also, Smith wowed no one and most Atl folks were wondering who the heck he was.
