Um, did somebody forget to tell the Steelers that free agency has begun and they actually have some money to spend this go around?

they just want to spend it wisely. They still have to pay L. Bell. Yes an OLB would be nice, but there are a few 2nd tier guys to be had.

Meanwhile, every time I log on or turn the TV or radio on the Patriots have made another move.

But they lost Bennett and Logan. They gained 3 and lost 2. But they had a lot more cap space 43 vs 18 roughly.

edit they lost 3 - Ryan, Sheard, and Bennet and lost their 2017 first round pick in trade. Gained Ealy, Gilmore, Allen and Cooks.

Who would you have us sign?

Our positions of need, don`t seem to have many players available...

    I`m thinking Safety, cornerback?

We don`t usually spend big in free agency, and when we do, except for Duce Staley, we usually get it right?

I know Steeler fans were all giddy because they had 20,000 in cap space but NE has 63,000.

    This is it.

Looking at the list of FAs, there were none I'd break the bank for other than Gilmore or Perry.

I do not think Kevin Colbert has forgotten.

There really is not anyone worth signing for as it stands who warrants a high price. Marcus Cooper can be had for a reasonable price, but I do not believe that such a player will come to pass.

The pats also lost Hightower. You have no clue if the pieces they are bringing in are going to gel or not.

And as others mentioned, the Patriots also didn't have two MUST RESIGN franchise players to BIG contracts...

We have kept a lot of guys to long we could have had more money and more draft picks..That's how the Pat's get it done, better to move a guy 1 year to early than a year to late...JJ could have been traded even if only for a 3rd. or 4th. would have saved 1.5 Mil...Timmons could have been traded for probably a 3rd. or 4th. rounder and saved 8.7 Million...Wheaton also had some value before the season started maybe a 4th. or 5th. and saved 1.6 Million...That would have gave us like 12 Million more and good ammo for a stacked draft..

I think the last time we brought in a decent free agent was James Farrior, prior to that Bettis..... we don't have much history of success acquiring FA's

I think you are seeing trade partners where there are none PWP or you spent three hours playing Madden like I did last night because those type of things don't happen unless you are the Browns

Pats do not have a first or second round draft pick. Who on here would be happy with that situation if we had picked up a CB/S/OLB of the caliber available? Especially at the over inflated rates they would be paid. Yep, Steelers screwed up and Patriots kicked our hurts.

    Indeed.

New England seems to be getting better.. but they need those pieces to contend yet again. In the same vein however, thet lost quite a bit of draft capital to do so in order to compete.

To say these may in fact be the final years of Tom Brady is not a revalation. What they plan to do with Jimmy Garrapolo is.

For our sake jeh, and I cannot believe I am saying this, Cleveland is our only hope to ensure that another Patriot era of dominance comes to pass. Should Cleveland elect to pounce on Jimmy... the AFC will be New Englands to rule yet again.

I think its going to take Father Time to slay Brady. He's gotta be breathing down his neck by now :beg:

Oh do not worry. If Gisele is begging him to, that tells me that the whispers are becoming more audible by the day.

You have to get near him first to maim him, when he plays the Steelers they barely touch him .

Who exactly were they supposed to go out and sign? The Steelers never make a splash signing when FA starts, they usually wait a few days and sign a mid tier FA.

FYI, the AFC is already New Englands to rule even without the draft picks they traded for veterans instead drafting a bunch of rookies.
