I want to wish every board member here a prosperous and healthy season. Nothing for me beats the start of a new season except for maybe the singing of the National Anthem when The Black n Gold are representing the AFC in the Superbowl, my question to the group is this:

I fly into the Burgh early Sunday morning from NJ and i'm headed straight to the stadium for tailgating and of course the game. Afterwards I have some time to kill before I depart Pittsburgh on a 9:00pm flight. I plan on watching the (2) 4:00pm games at a local watering hole, any recommendations between the stadium and the airport?

The Steelers game will be over so I don't expect to go someplace that's fan filled but it would be nice to be amongst some other sports fans. In the past I've settled in at Jerome Bettis Grill 36 (can't go wrong there right) just wanted to know if there were any other options, thanks in advance

Also as far as home jerseys are concerned should I wear the:

    Ben Roethlisberger
    Greg Lloyd
    Hines Ward
    or
    Jerome Bettis

The Bettis and Ben Jerseys have the better overall records HOWEVER the Roethlisberger jersey was worn during last year's home opener when we lost to the Titans, thoughts?

There's a bar/grill called the Buckhead near by in Station Square. It's an easy going casual place with decent food and beers. It's also right next to the Sheraton, so getting a cab back to the airport will be easy. And you can take the ferry there, which is cool.

I'd go with the Bettis jersey. Gotta give Ben's a chance to get the stink off from last years home opener.

My only recommendation is to change your flight to Friday. Go see the city and spend a couple of days. It sounds like you already have a bunch of money invested. Whats a couple hundred more bucks to truely get the full experience. Ride the incline. Take the Gateway clipper fleet. Do the Duck boat tour. Start tailgating 8 am.

Jersey - I would go with #7 since he will be on the field.

    Don't forget your Terrible Towel!

9 pm flight? Time is of the essence. I'd stick to Bettis or Tilted Kilt or McFaddens since they are easily accessible. If you wanted to get away from the stadium and head toward the airport, you could always stop at Latitude 40 or the Tilted Kilt in Robinson. Both in Robinson Twp and about 1/2 between stadium and airport with easy access on and off of the parkway. If you choose the latter and sit at the bar, ask for Cory Valentine and tell her that I sent you (for you locals, this the the Kilt girl who was on Maddens show a few times).

If you do come early into the city Saturday morning in the Strip District is worth every penny. I have probably dumped over $1000 in the 3 times I have been to Pittsburgh in the Strip District. Just about everything Steeler you could ever ask for is down there. Love it!!!

If you've been there you would know! Meaning you'd remember! Penn and 18th street.

If you go to the strip district you must eat at Primanti Bros...there will probably be a line but well worth it....
We went last year for the last time and we really enjoyed ourselves

From between Gate A and Gate B at Heinz...Take General Robinson St to the light just beyond PNC and make right at light. Cross over river (Roberto Clemente Bridge) and make 2nd left onto Penn Av. Follow Penn Av about 1/2 mile and you'll be in the middle of it.
