if the Steelers let Harrison, Starx, Keisel, Hampton, Batch and Foote walk, will it save them or cost them money against the cap.

i know they are up against the cap number already, but to me these guys are not the future and there are guys behind them that should be starting next year.

i think if they retire the hit isnt different than if they just release them.

i think we could see Harrison, Keisel and Hampton all retire. Keisel was a question mark, but with the knee injury and his age he might just call it quits.

just a question for the guys that have a grasp on the numbers.

If this isn't spot on it's close enough. I'm no capologist, but it appears as though the FO is just pushing money off until it's time for a total rebuild.

harrison has said he's willing to re-negotiate to stay for next year. he also said he can now rehab his knee to be ready to play next season and not just enough to be able to play week to week.

The only positive about being over the cap, it seems to be the only way this team gets rid of the dead weight.

they just cant go into next season with the same players. i know the defense was good, but i think most of us can agree they were no where near a #1 rated defense. to me yards is pretty far down on the list when it comes to determining how good a defense is.

i think they have most of the talent they need already on the roster. Tomlin or the Rooneys need to step up and make sure the young guys are playing because they are better not just because of injuries.

lets face it the only reason we saw DeCastro, Adams and Allen where because of injuries. if the guys in front of them stayed healthy those guys would have never seen the field.

they need to get more athletic on defense and on offense they need to get smarter. fix those 2 things and they have the talent to get to the super bowl.

I remember in the past the steelers used to be great at getting rid of the old just at the right time for the new guys to take over. = saving money on the big contracts.. What happen to that? Did the low draft picks finally catch up on us? Hampton, Keisel, Foote etc should've been gone 3 years ago. I think James had a bad year cus 1, his injury, and 2 Keisel isn't opening the door anymore for James to run through. I think most of the blame has to be on Lebeau for using these guys too much.
