I'm sure Aaron Rodgers, the future Hall of Famer quarterback, shaking in terror at the prospect of having to compete with Mason Rudolph for his job.

Sure. The other side of the coin is that if those guys aren't able to beat out Rodgers, the Steelers aren't missing out. Whether it's those guys, a FA, or a draft pick, best and most ready QB should start.

If Rodgers is back there won’t be a competition it will be handed to him. I have no idea why anyone wants to run it back with 42/43 year old AR. Insane.

I just don’t understand how this isn’t obvious to every Steeler fan. He can’t move and doesn’t want to get hit anymore. We are scratching and clawing to try and win 9 games by bringing him back and have 0 chance at playoff success. Rip the damn band aid off already and play a younger guy likely have a poor year (maybe you get lucky and discover someone) and draft someone in 2027.

I'm not sure it even does that. He won't be getting any younger , or healing any faster this year. More than likely it could be worse.

But Art said after the season that this was a successful year. He was surprised about Tomlin leaving because he wanted to run it back again next year. So he hired the coach that is most likely to keep the status quo of winning 9 or 10 games and wants to bring back the ancient QB who also is most likely to achieve that coveted 9th win.

People are basically basing this off of 3 games.
Yeah we trick the Jets with Justin Fields turn around too, and we were able to do that with 6 games.
Now go , and look at all the good stuff written about how Justin Fields had turned the corner, and finally fixed his career, and laugh at all the gullible people. LoL

Well nobody got to see Howard play any preseason.
So hypothetically, he could have beaten out Mason for the 2nd spot, and when Rodgers went down with the wrist, he may have taken over. Hypothetical, and all.
I mean if Batch doesn't get hurt in the preseason. We may not have ever seen Ben that 1st year, and many things could have been different.

Disagree with what? You think Rodgers is coming back to compete with Mason and Howard? Come on.

I don’t think that is a good test. Rodgers was one of the best QBs in the league when he was younger, and he is now in his 40s.

That doesn’t mean a consistent and gradual decline. When he is rested, his peak will be as high as it ever was. But he will need more rest between starts to stay at that level. If he gets fatigued, the drop off will be steeper, and it will be harder for him to bounce back without a long break.

That means in the off-season leading up to the opening game, Rodgers will look great and win the QB battle. But how many of the 17 games (plus playoffs) will he maintain that level? And how many games will he look old & tired & worse than what Mason or Will can do?

With Tomlin gone, I don't get the Malik Willis connection. Tomlin wanted to draft Malik, but was overruled by Art Rooney who didn't want to make his father Dan Marino mistake.

Not sure why Malik Willis would be on Mike McCarthy's radar.
