We have seen Rudolph run this team, he couldnt beat a winless Lions team last year. The guy is a bum, I dont understand what Tomlin and Rooney see in him. I dont care for Mitch but I would rather him run the team than Rudolph.

Mason was clearly the best QB early on.... im a little surprised they bumped back his reps. Makes me think the competition is not as open as it should be.

And Mason did everything right to beat the Lions.... it was a DJ and Pat fumbles that lost the game

I don't care who wins the starting QB spot. As long as the Steelers win, I could not care less. If the Steelers are winning, it won't be pretty. It's gonna be hard fought last minute wins. Good entertainment.

I'm sick of the last minute wins. Nerve racking and frustrating beyond belief.

Steelers will not become the '94 49ers, '99 Rams or the '07 Patriots any time soon. Roethlisberger didn't give us many dominant wins under his reign. Last ones I remember were the back to back 6TD games vs Colts and Ravens in '14.

Exactly, but even beyond that....I believe I read somewhere about 90.6 percent of games in the NFL are on last minute drives. So by that ....a lot of teams are winning nail biters.

Look MR osxwhatvhevus..maybe even better than we have seen given a quality line..perhaps not, but the game last year is hardly proof of anything. Yes back ups are called to play at anytime, but literally one hour before game time he was called the starter. It's clearly different jumping into a game fir an injury and just trying to getvthrough the game without mistakes, than starting a game with limited reps and practice...totally different mind set and expectations. Regardless of the lion being winless, they had actually played hard in some of those losses. Just asinine to put thar loss on MR alone.b

Hell it took the Awesome (LoL) Lamar Jackson, and the ravens a world record setting field goal 2 beat the lions last season.

Last year Mason played with the 1’s in preseason running a managed game plan to shake the cobwebs off so no one got hurt. Everyone cried for Haskins. Then Haskins finally started and played terribly. This year Mitch can suck in preseason while Mason plays great. Unfortunately, everyone will blame it on Mason playing with the 2’s and not give him any credit. If Mason plays 1st team and plays lights out, it will again be said it is only preseason. Give the guy credit. Mason is playing better and deserves a shot at starting.

Rudolph gets blasted for that tie with the Lions but that tie put us in the playoffs. The Steelers finished 9-7-1, if they would have been 9-8 they would have lost tie breakers with the Chargers and Colts and would have been the 9th seed. That tie vaulted the Steelers from the 9th seed to the 7th seed and the last playoff spot.

The Steelers scored 16 points in regulation against the worst team in the league and you think the quarterback did everything right? Remember, he made some absolutely terrible throws at times when he had receivers open, including one on what should have been a touchdown.

I find it truly mystifying that people like you think Rudolph didn't screw up throwing the ball to Freiermuth in that situation.

No, it's not an open competition. Of course, what the three quarterbacks did in the past matters. It would be stupid not to take that into account. Trubisky has a better resume than Rudolph and Pickett is the team's first-round draft pick. Of course, the Steelers have more faith in both of them than they do in Rudolph. That just shows that they actually know what they are doing.

I'll add one more of course to the post. Of course, the guy who has more experience with the system and the veteran players on the team had an advantage at the start of camp. It seems that Tomlin is smart enough to realize that doesn't tell us much about who is going to be the better option by the opener against he Bengals.

That tie would have been a win with a decent quarterback taking the snaps for the Steelers.

I think there's a QB competition. I just don't think Mason is apart of such competition. As camp goes further on, I suspect that Kenny will be the one that battles Mitch for the #1. If Kenny doesn't win the job he'll be the #3 QB. If Kenny wins the #1, either Mitch or Mason gets traded. I wouldn't be surprised if Mason gets traded regardless of who wins the job, tbh.

No matter who is the starter for week 1(It will be Trubisky or Rudolph), I wouldn't be surprised if our QB looks good for the first 2-3 week, but after that it could be a huge challenge when the opponents are going to have more tape on them and also the way the steelers use them

Just to look at Sam Darnold last year with the panthers, good in the first 3-4 weeks and a dumpster fire after that....I'm not saying that's what will happen but it's a possibility

My guess is Mitch and the 1’s

My guess is the next game will be Mason and the 1’s

Third one will be whomever they plan to start the season with and the 1’s and it will be more than a token series or two

I don't see the 1's getting much work except for the 2nd preseason game. As long as Picket beats out the deer for the #2 spot I will consider it a win.
