None of the quarterbacks have run this offense before. Our offense should look vastly different from what we saw in 2021. In 2021 we tried and failed to build an offense around what Ben was both comfortable with doing and capable of doing.

Somewhat true. But you have to admit, Mason has a foot up on them.
This offense really isn't anything unique:

Run first against zone blocking (outside and inside)
This enables RPO's (Ben was not a fit :) )
and the TE play has to be better in this schema. Ideally he'd like to run double TE sets on early downs.
Harris is a excellent fit for the zone schema.
Pickett is a perfect fit at QB, mobile and does play-action well.. but it's way too early to predict that.
Mason really isn't the best fit, so I get the logic they used this off season.
The offense will be better manned and I figure Mason is the DeFacto #2 (due to having a leg up) but training camp/pre-season might prove otherwise.
So yes, the offense is better manned, and should operate better than what we saw last year.. but it is the same offense.

I've felt they brought in Trubisky to make Mason battle it out for the starting job. It's not an inherited position that should be given by default. I was pulling for Mason and really hoping he would win it out. Now with the addition Pickett, I would love for him to win the starting job because I hate to see our Number 1 pick seem to be a wasted pick. Now he would not be a wasted pick if he doesn't start this year. However, year 2 would be a must start scenario IMHO.

Pecking order to start the season:

    Trubisky
    Pickett
    Oladokun

Rudolph traded for 5th rd pick.

if trubisky goes down then we are in a mason duck hodges scenario again.

Send get well messages to Pickett and Trubisky, because the only way Rudolph should start is if they are both injured.

Also, of course, I would root for Rudolph to be great. I know he wouldn't be, but I'd certainly hope he proves me wrong.

Rudolph is easily replaceable, Pickett can do that and when a team gets to a 3rd string QB your season is ****ed anyway.

Ben probably has a cardboard cut out of a boy with a “Your hands must be this big” to enter my house sign out front.

Trubisky is more mobile than Pickett...

    That's debatable.
But leave it as it is - I am good with it, I was more pointing to the draft pick... and now can include the signing of Mitch. (Theme = Mobile guys)
Big Ben, very good QB, doesn't fit Canada's design...

    The big example would be,
When the pocket forms, all options are covered, that leaves the QB by default uncovered.
A guy like Pickett/Mitch can run for pretty good yardage. (Gawd, that Josh Allen would be a perfect fit!)
This will force the defense to 'spy' on the QB..
Unlike Lamar, these guys can pass.. so it's a good weapon to have.

I think Mitch will win the spot...
I think Pickett will flash but not enough to take over in the early going.

Let Trubisky start the season until they figure things out on the new look OLine IMO. It’s probably going to be a bit rough for the first half of the season, may be better to keep Kenny Pickett out of the firing line and let him find his feet in the NFL

Rudolph should start if he outplays the others.

Is #4 you are talking about #5?

I don't even know if he is getting any reps right now. I see 4 QBs warming up in the OTAs. I hear that only 3 QBs are splitting up the snaps.

Unless Chris blows it up in the Preseason, should be safe to put on the practice squad.

Just another way for Ben to stick it to Mason.

We may be watching both Mason and Washington play for another team this year. Ben couldn't run these two guys out of town fast enough.

Based on everything we have seen, I find that very unlikely, especially with the team putting a priority on mobility.

Some of you really have a hard time understanding that Rudolph is not a good quarterback.

Why he is already here and knows the playbook and most players. The season doesn't have to be over with 3 decent qbs on staff. Mason is the guy you would replace mason with.

3 preseason games, will you have 3 preseason starters?
    Mitch in Game 1
    Mason in Game 2
    Picket in Game 3

Since the Steelers had 4 preseason games last year, I didn't see how other teams were playing their starters in the shortened Preseason. I would assume game 3 is where hardly anyone plays their starters.

Going to be a new playbook. Plus might as well get a draft pick for him and see what Oladokun can do. We are in the era of finding the next franchise guy, its not Rudolph and he’s not going to lead them to a SB so why hold onto him. You rarely get to a 3rd string QB anyway.
