    This all checks out.
    Things we already know.

A player with 12? Games in mason

    No games in Pickett

    Starter for years with Mitch.

Hate to break it boys Mitch is the starter and give us the best opportunity to win. There isn't a competition it's Mitch's job to lose. I think he will but not this season.

Welcome to a season of frustrating games, again. If we don't play with a lead we don't have a QB that will just say **** it and move on.
For the crap I give Ben he still could pull it from his ass.

We neeeeeeed to lead in the possession/TO game as we will not have a QB bail us out.

I don’t see trade value but hey the Raiders like trading with us

He will ask for his release

He will be granted his release most likely based on a $5MM salary

I would bet for this very reason....He will not be. At least not 2 start it off.
It's a drop in the bucket the money they are paying the Qb room this year, and no matter what it would be smart 2 go into the season with all 3.

Several reasons I believe the right move is to go with trubisky.
    1. I really want to see what this kid can bring to our team. I want to see him get at least half the season to see if he can be better or if it was a bad move. And that means even if his last 2 games he finally shows improvement, I want him to continue to be given the chance. Simply because it takes time.
    2. Pickett needs time to understand how to read the field. That was my only negative to his college play. However that's something that can be taught.... you can be great at everything else, but if you fail at reading plays, you'll get man handled by good defense and destroyed by great defense...... it can be taught in a couple months. But I am still old school where you let them sit for a year to learn.
    3. Furthermore letting pickett learn off the field, will help his body growth. Because if your a rookie and take hits vs a 3 year player and take hits. Your body can with stand those hits better when properly grown. (We all seen rg3 in his rookie year get hammered).

I'm with you on the first point. I also think Trubisky could be the better option for this season.

I'm not sure I agree with your take on Pickett reading the field. Relative to most college quarterbacks, I actually think that was a strong point of his. I'm not sure the last point works, either. He's more experienced and older than most rookies.

I also believe his days are numbered. I like him and will be rooting for him. I do believe no matter what success he would have in Pittsburgh would be on a short leash. I do have a feeling he will become a starter elsewhere and I have the prediction that he will go head to head with Pittsburgh down the line and fear him picking us a part because he is in the right situation. I know I'll get blasted for that, but stranger things have happened.

Just because he's older, doesn't mean he got built like an nfl player. Every rookie i see looks totally different after a year due to their workouts.

Maybe i am wrong with him reading the field. I went off of films where they showed a defense changing up and he was lost.

The other thing that's an issue is he needs to trust his line. He would drop out of great pockets. But one could argue he does this because he likes to take steps to make a throw..... however if I am correct, all that is fixable. And if you give him a year to learn it, is best. That way he doesn't have to worry about trying to win games.

There is some recent history of bad quarterbacks picking the Steelers apart, so maybe that would support your theory. Nothing we've seen from Rudolph would do it.

I think 2 years barring some injury.

I don't even think he'll be number 2 this year.
Mitch plays well enough to keep on a cheap contract and mason I think I 1 year left.
Pickett becomes 2 next year and start his 3rd.

Unless..... He is too good to keep off the field or Mitch plays to well to not keep.

Obvs I have little faith in both of those options.

    Also, welcome!

    Welcome aboard.

I'd think the Bye Week is a likely time frame, but there's too many variables in this.
