If we quit beating the dead horses, there wont be much to type/gripe about. We would've missed out on the 20 page thread a couple weeks ago, debating the 1974 draft.

I am pretty sure they are showcasing Dobbs so that he DOES land on another team and has another opportunity. This is how we treat our players, we dont just cut them and say see ya, we have/had a vested interest in his development and it just so happens that they were able to upgrade this year in the draft, its not always fair but thats life. Just like I think Matakevich and Chickillo should be gone due to players that they have brought in that have more talent or more upside. Remember this is a business and the goal is to improve in all categories every year even if it means someone has to go.

Yep. This is Tomlins way. He is giving Dobbs his last shot of showing everybody what he can do so he can land a job somewhere else.

I seriously doubt they'd waste valuable reps that Mason could be getting so Dobbs can find a job elsewhere.

Exactly. They invested a draft pick and time in him and they can't be too displeased by the progress he has shown. He still has years on his contract and LJ is on his last. Why would they be so eager to help show him the door, makes little sense to me. Ben,Rudolph and Dobbs next year is pretty much the ideal situation.

maybe they are doing the honorable thing and letting him showcase his talents so he can latch on to someones 53 elsewhere???

Yeah, they want to really see what they have in Dobbs.

I think they do, Face it, there is virtually no chance we keep all 4, they have decided on the 3 they want at this time. There is an extremely minimal chance Mason plays this year in any capacity barring a catastrophic injury to Ben and Landry. Therefore Mason will sit back watch and learn in the film room and he will get his reps next year as the number 2 in camp once LJ has moved on. Why risk the kid getting injured in a game that will not determine a roster spot?

Actually, Im starting to feel keeping 4 is exactly what they will do. For all the reasons that have been discussed here for both LJ and Dobbs. LJ is in his last year but they like his experience back there. Dobbs has progressed nicely and continues to improve. Next year, LJ walks and Dobbs steps in.

Theyd be throwing away crucial snaps and learning experience for Mason if the decision to cut Dobbs was already made. Wouldn't make any sense doing that.

So I’m back to saying that Dobbs and Rudolph should be the two backup QB’s.

Yeah, to quote Vinny, everything that guy just said is BS.

Don't even need a trained eye to see Dobbs is a more talented QB.

I just find it funny that all these guys who are saying we should of went with Landry then post links to Dobbs having strong trade potential ,something I guess Landry didn't have because we flat out cut him. With all his experience, the same experience that is vital to us having a chance to win a game without Ben doesn't seem to have the same importance to other teams throughout the league because no one was willing to give anything up for it.
